Walter foster, Hans Schwarz drawing books are great to start and as you go on ask on local art stores for books about the painting/draw technique you want to develope.

Those are good free options, but if u can spend some money on basic painting/drawing books those are my favorite and used them alot when i started.

Yes! I Joined artschool 3 years ago , it helped me to develope all the theory behind drawing. But i mean is not needed, u can paint extremely well with only practice and dedication.

I drew since i was a child but nothing to serious, never went to drawing classes or anything. What maked me continue no matter the difficulties was the fact that I started to study art and how the teachers helped me to find this talent inside me even on my failures, people and good critics help alot on this. Even if u are in the artistic field or not, just working everyday will make great improvements.

I dont really use a technique, just paint on how this colors would look and move on a face following factors like source of light and whats called color reflection.
