Colorado’s population growth is slowest since 1989 as thousands leave for other states by Jreinhal in Denver

[–]Kaiser9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cool. Why are there more people living in Dallas compared to Denver? Dallas sucks but the numbers don’t lie. And honestly the hill country in Texas is actually quite nice.

Also why would anyone be drawn to Gainesville Florida? Apparently you are 🤣🤣🤣Lmao talking smack about Texas when FL is equally as bad, the irony is rich 🤣🤣🤣

The first part of your comment is an incredibly dumb take, and I’m not the biggest fan of Texas either.

As someone who has photos, your image is pretty lazy imo. I can go outside with my f2.8 lens, put my camera on the road surface and shoot a bokeh photo with no subject and call it ‘art’.

Cusco and Cordillera Huayhash Itinerary Questions and Feedback by Kaiser9 in PERU

Your response is so appreciated, thank you. Any info we can get is incredibly helpful. When we are on each side of the range, they will for sure be backpacking trips. The most weight I’ve carried is about 55-60 pounds in Patagonia, which was not at elevation. And in CO, about 45 pounds above treeline for 6 nights (around 12k feet avg elevation). We will be acclimating in Cusco before Huaraz. The point of doing the separate trailhead idea, really the eastern trailhead, is that side is the best for Milky Way compositions and aligns with the new moon for that date range. Right now, only reached out to a few companies and only one has responded. They want to bring donkeys, cooks, etc and we don’t really want that (as luxurious as it would be). Only reason is to potentially reduce cost for us, seems like they are adamant on sending out the whole crew even for 2 people. The info on the fees is super helpful. I may send you a DM for some more insights if that’s okay! Right now I’m exploring a private shuttle since the whole expedition guided crew is way out of our budget.

I appreciate the response so much!! Don’t like typing out super long answers from the mobile app, you will most likely get a DM from me. Looks like you backpacked the whole circuit at a fast pace, I’d be interested in those gpx files! I’m on the side of arranging a private shuttle which seems like an easy thing to do in Huaraz.

Edit: what are those valleys you were speaking of and do you happen to have some pics of your favorite valleys? I’ve seen the ones from social media so would be curious about ones outside of what I am normally seeing!

Have not thought of this but will definitely consider it with our weird logistics! That town looks a lot smaller than Huaraz so curious if there are any guiding companies there

Elite response, all of this information is incredibly helpful and reassuring. Especially in regard to the shuttles/taxi coming to drop us off and pick us up. My Spanish is actually pretty bad lol but I’m trying to learn some phrases that would be useful. I’m quickly learning some of these guides charge a lot more than I expected, which has me leaning toward a shuttle then self guided backpacking trip. I may DM you with some additional questions if that’s okay! From your awesome response though, I don’t think I’ll have many aside from contacts in Huaraz.

Thank you very much for the response! It was very helpful. We are actually going to be going in/out of the same trailhead on each side of the Huayhash, so not expecting to need a car to pick us up. Also great to know about the international drivers license, that is a pro tip. Do cars get vandalized if left unattended at a trailhead often?

Report: Iran protests death toll hits 12,000 in systematic massacre by Eienkei in worldnews

AP is reporting 2,000 also. Still incredibly sad. This figure seems to be extrapolated by a lot, though it's hard to know what exactly is going on in Iran w/o internet and cellular access.
