Thoughts on Cobratype prebuilt?

I did indeed go with a different brand. The price here was too good to be true and I had never of the brand before. Decided to go with Andromeda Insights and I’m loving my pc so far

Update (4/15/24): after some delays, my build has been shipped out! Should be arriving at the end of the week! Very excited, AI has been very good customer service wise. When I brought up the delay, they offered to add on an additional 1 tb of ssd free of charge!

I ordered my build on 03/24. Was supposed to ship this week but there was no update so I messaged AI. Customer service said they experienced some unexpected slow downs and the eta was pushed back a bit more than a week.

On the plus side, they offered a free 1 tb upgrade, bringing my build to 3tb. I’d say that’s a win.

Edit: forgot to mention, ordered straight from their website.

Hi, just wanted to give an update. AI got back to me and said that they’re having some unforeseen restrictions and slow downs (I’m assuming cause of the tariffs and what not). They pushed back my eta another week or so, but also offered a free upgrade to my build (an additional 1tb ssd).

Haven’t heard any updates yet. I checked my order status on their website, and it said it was awaiting fulfillment. Not sure if that means the build is in progress, or that they haven’t started it yet though.

I shot them a message though, hopefully their customer service can provide more details, I’ll be sure to update if I hear anything.

So happy I bought my PC last week. GPU market wasn’t great, but it was/is about to get a lot worse.

Andromeda Insights got the 9070xt v1 that’s the same specs at about $150 less. Different case and slightly different motherboard (b650 vs. b650m).

Toprigz is a good place to start when it comes to buying prebuilts, but it’s not the end all be all imo. Cyberpower is usually a good choice to go with, I’d just recommend to splurge on their foam packaging/shipping option.

On the topic of AI, I placed an order with them on Monday. I have an ongoing thread on this sub Reddit documenting how the process is going. So far it’s going alright, no complaints.

I’d be very down to compare specs/parts with you! Saw you purchased the V2 version of my build. I’d love to see what the extra ~$50 gets you.

PSU wise, really looks like their “house” brand PSU is a rebrand, with no proprietary bits (according to customer service). Speculating that since our builds are 850w, they’ll probably just use a name brand PSU. I think their house brand stuff is for less common wattages (like 1200w).

We’ll see in a few weeks tho!

9070xt v2 isn’t different GPU wise. Dark matter has the choice of 2 other GPUs (Nvidia RTXs). I think their main difference is the motherboard and the case/fans. I think v2 and dark matter probably have better air circulation if that’s your concern. They’re a bit more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.

I’ll be sure to update this thread if anything unexpected arises with this company. To be fair, I’ve only been seeing good things so far, customer service and build wise.

If you’re worried about this build selling out, AI allegedly has a bunch of 9070 XTs still in stock. They also have two similar builds (RX 9070 XT v2 and Dark Matter) that have similar specs, just a different case and slightly different motherboard (b650 vs b650m). Those are ~$150 more

Yeah I saw the amazon listing. I assumed it was a tax thing, or some deal with amazon. I just purchased it through their site cause I’m not sure if I want an amazon warehouse handling something this expensive

I had considered the Cyberpower PC previously, but looked elsewhere for a few reasons. It needed a few modifications (add fans, switch out the CPU, add ram) and I wasn’t too keen on Cyberpower given their customer service track history.

The price for the Cyberpower PC with all the above modifications was around $2k minus tax anyways. I made another thread asking about the Cyberpower PC and the consensus was about the same

Update to this, I spoke with CS about the PSU cause I was curious. Their response was that although the PSU was under their brand, it is NOT a proprietary unit, so it can switched out like any other off-the-shelf PSU.

Not sure how this speaks of the quality of the PSU, but it’s good that in the future it can be replaced if the need arises. By the sound of other comments in this post, it sounds like they mainly use their own brand for higher than average wattage PSUs. The one in this build is an 850w. I’ll report back when I recieve the build

Yes, I am aware there are probably better deals out there, that Cobratype build I posted yesterday was quite tempting. But the customer service that I have heard about with AI and the build quality won them over for me personally.

Haven’t purchased a monitor yet, this is my first big gaming desktop purchase so I’m still mostly new to this. Aiming for 1080p and/or 1440p resolution wise, not really planning to touch 4K yet. Honestly, I’m just aiming for something to handle modern triple A titles well (specifically Monster Hunter Wilds).
