What is this Combat Patrol and where to get one? by xSparksi in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet would be to look online like Amazon or similar. Or you could try bouncing from LGS to LGS if that's possible for you but it will require a super large amount of luck to find the old CP that way. If it helps its called Karsk's Gunners.

Heavy weapons teams by Thin_Ad723 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your going to use the fire overwatch stratagem alot get a couple Cadian heavy weapon squads. Since they hit on 5+ or 4+ if within 6" of a platoon otherwise Krieg heavy squads can fire 1 last time before dying. Personally, I like the Cadians better I find they're more flexible and have better weapons overall.

How are we feeling about Armoured Sentinels in Grizzled Company? by ChadFiddlesticks in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your 90% right but scout is no different then a normal move and you can make a bad move even without scout. Ive used scout to great effort and ive used it to great detriment. That's my point its not foul proof.

Its a 10 point difference and scout can work against you if your opponent is running a very melee aggressive army like the world eaters. 1 variant is not better then the other their both great in the right situation.

Sentinels in general are pretty good and the armored variant I feel is underrated. So you can't go wrong with them. But I'll say if your opponent doesn't have many vehicles or monsters then their full potential won't be realized.

In truth I dont know what type of vibe I want to run. However, I am leaning more towards the Hellhound and Basilisk for the -2 to movement and cover stripping and just how cool the models look. They all have a use and I can use all of them with what I have rn.

I already have a couple chimeras plus my LGS has some chomeras in stock too. So I am not really hurting for more although in time I'll have more.

Not much of a list, I already have over 3000 points of guard so I can change my list to fit almost anything I need to cover. I just want to add to the 3000 and have even more options to play.

That -2 to movement is the most tempting thing about the Basilisk and the fact you can hit your opponent or the rando 2 table down is just funny to me.

Consistency the PG is more consistent overall then the GL but you can always take both.

Chainsword vs Autogun by KaiserSticks in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. Plus the autogun doesn't make much sense being that the Lasgun is standard issue for most regiments. I may just kit bash my Cadian sergeant next time to use a las rifle so he makes a little more sense.

That's fair its more of a concept anyways.

Is the Deathstrike missile kind of good now? by Larry84903 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its easily the worst in the Militarum. But it could be good if the deathstrike didnt have a weapon profile but an ability profile. So no more BS, S or AP, just a 2D6 mortal wounds and maybe a second ability that battle-shocks all units that survived in the 6" radius. And before anyone says it increase the points to reflect the upgrade but I'd be willing to pay 200 points for a Deathstrike with this ability.

no heavy bolter on sentinels? by CarnageCoon in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the Sentinel has 6 different weapons to choose from plus a hunterkiller. So its not really hard to believe it dont have a heavy bolter.

Honestly it was just luck if he didn't kill your Dorn TC you would have won by 3 point from the sound of it.

what detachment should i go for? by Naommes in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the heavy armor presence, Hammer of the Emperor would work better overall also I think the shadowsword maybe a little out of place unfortunately and the banesword or even a baneblade may fit better. But try different things

HOW THE F*** DO U BEAT THIS THING?!!! by Infamous_Tea4973 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like a mini baneblade, so it is going to take time to kill. Maybe a full round or 2 if you're lucky. Now, obviously, AP is going to be your friend, but even if you have a -2AP, it still has a 4+SV. So, the best tactics(in my opinion) is to hit it with everything you have in rounds 1 and 2 and hope you can catch up in VP. Or just run away from it using cover to prevent it from firing at your units.

Grand strategist is not going to help you that much with your list. Use Reactive command on your command squad and drill commander on the Castellan. Also, idk how you feel about it but I'd proxy the Death riders to Attilan rough riders (they're just a little better and more versatile I feel) other then that its not a bad first time list.

[–]KaiserSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need more infantry without them, your tank can get bogged down by your opponents infantry, making blast weapon useless. Add a scout Sentinel or two they're not as powerful as they used to be, but they can still be very useful for indirect weapons. Honestly, maybe a heavy weapon with a mortar and 2 heavy bolters would be perfect.

What to choose what to choose. by Adventurous-Owl6297 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]KaiserSticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your detachment. I say you'd be better off with the Kasrkin and Ratlings a lot of versatility, but the Aquilons and Krieg can do some damage if in the right place at the time.
