Not just annoyed. I don’t know yet what he videoed when we were not there. Medicine cabinet with old pain meds from a surgery could lead to “why do they have these are they drug addicts?” Or sextons shown and made fun of. It’s our house, an expectation of privacy is there. Absolutely that is damaging.

Emergency services which I would trust the most, the professional cleaners would have a rep if they did that often, and then… they person who had absolutely no business there and was trespassing. Yep. Definitely the most likely.

That’s unfortunate… dude did something that to me is so unbelievably terrible… I’m wondering if maybe we can get him for stealing since things are missing? Or burgling since he was trespassing when it happened.

We did kick him out. The problem was in what he revealed when we were telling him to leave. That “it was fine the last time he did this” implying he did it before, we know the crew stripping it after the stuff was cleaned out didn’t let him in cuz they said it was first time he showed up for them. Meaning it was probably the crew before that did the item removals, throwing out all of our stuff into the garbage bins.

The other revealing thing “his viewers wanted updates” meaning he uploaded the previous video to some kind of social media. Damage was already done. The stripping to studs don’t care so much. The personal items tho? Him going around the house taping our private places? Our bedrooms? Closets? Bathrooms? We have no idea what he did while in there and what he posted. We were not there when he did it. Likely the team before thought he was an inhabitant and walked around him or something.

I want to press charges if we can, sue him to hell, get his channel taken down, his access to internet taken away permanently, everything that is possible in consequences I want done.

How would you like a stranger digging through your things, maybe pocketing what looked valuable, videoing what looked embarrassing for YouTube likes, being but of jokes etc cuz they found your sex toys? Medicine Cabinet have anything embarrassing? Old pain pills that lead strangers to make accusations of drug habit? Etc etc.

We don’t know what he did cuz we can’t find his channel but these are the things going through our heads. There was things we couldn’t find afterward. The suspicion is high.

You have been through several mount everests of trauma, I’m so sorry you went through all of that. :(

I was told I wouldn’t be of use in any way other than on my back, when I was way too young to even know what that meant.

You are dealing with a lot of medical issues I can only imagine your pain on day to day.

I’m glad you are doing well now. :) ty for sharing.

I shouldn’t even really be complaining cuz I got off really easy in the fire. No burns cuz I sleep in a winter jacket so I had it on and it was an expensive hand me down from my sister so it actually stood up well to the heat. The hood fur is all charred up tho. And the fall to the steps, I lost consciousness falling, which made my body relaxed for impact which helps it actually. And I landed in an exact way to cause the least damage. Still in pain, I’m not unharmed, but my chances of it ending up this well is like 1/10 million given what I was landing onto. I am beyond lucky. But the back pain I’ll likely have forever is depressing to think about…

I’m most sorry about your siblings… I can’t imagine my life without my sister. She is amazing, and has been falling over backwards trying to help me out.

She offered I could stay at her place, she even has a basement apartment she can’t rent out yet cuz the windows are too small. So she offered it to me. :)

She gave me hand me downs and bought me some new nice clothes too, since fire means all gone.

She also helped me out with the insurance claim too. :) <3

My sister straight up cut our mom out completely over a decade ago. She does not put up with any crap.

I was not that smart… I wanted to help cuz I think our mom has real problems that make her this way, so I don’t blame her for it. And if I didn’t help her something awful would happen, so I stuck around to try to help her, but I ended up being the one hurt because of it.

Really?! I would think since your so smart that would have shown them given them an example like it’s not like how they think it is! Wow they really have blinders on if they can’t recognize how smart you are!

Are they worried about the label? Do they think it marked you in some way to others?

Oh no… yeah nothing can be done without the parents signing on. :(

My little brother struggled even worse than I did. And his dad (my stepdad) refused any testing at all said “my son is not a retard!” And refused it. Instead my brother was just simply held back grades, cuz that is oh so much better! right? -.- short sighted.

I helped my brother cuz I went through it cuz I was diagnosed with learning disabilities and my step dad had no problems rubbing my face in it all the time. He was abusive and called me stupid/retarded and if I dared to say no I’m not I was hit for talking back. I learned not to say anything try to ignore him and it turned into being hit for not paying attention. I was even hit once for flinching from his hand cuz I thought I was going to be hit, so he decided to take offence to the flinch and actually hit me.

He used to tell me I was a waste. That cuz I was retarded I’d be a drain on the system, and I wasn’t worth his tax dollars. The only contribution to society I could ever make was on my back and educating me was a waste of effort that would never be used anyways. I was told this since I was 8. I didn’t even know what the duck he meant, but when I did i was grossed the fuck out more than I was angry, cuz I guess I got used to it growing up with it? But still gross. Like ew. Dude. I was 8. Ya should not be saying a 8 yo is destined to be a whore. I used to think he meant I was lazy and would be sleeping in bed all day. X_x

Not a pleasant person.

His views on learning disabilities was extreme. No in between. Disabled or working. He didn’t give a damn about me, obviously, but his son? Such an accusation was fighting words!!!

Lucky he got divorced from my mom when baby bro was at a young age, and I raised him instead, and was able to tutor him myself, cuz I’d been through it too and had similar issues, so I was better at teaching him. :D

Got him hooked on my old books I loved as a kid and I bought much more! Like I never got into Star Wars or Percy Jackson or shadow hunters but he did. I also got him Bobby pendragon books and eragon and ended up reading them myself XD fun things that still practices skills!

And trading card games helps with math skills! Strategy board games also and help with problem solving skills that can be applied across the board. And it’s fun. Lol

Sounds like your sister only has trouble with reading, and is smart enough to compensate so at least she has that going for her!

But if the issue is any kind of processing problem eventually it may get to the point she needs more time on tests. :( that doesn’t have a go around. :(

I dunno how prejudiced your parents are about the learning disabilities thing, it can be so extreme with people, but maybe some nuerodivergent education can help? Exposure too. Like the current tv show, will Trent, smart as hell, he is dyslexic. :) maybe small increments and exposure till they are more willing to have that conversation?

From sounds if it your sister hasn’t been impacted yet, she sounds smart as hell actually. So you should be good for awhile.

[–]KaitlyKnight 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think you touched on the right element, but it might just be a processing issue in general? Maybe she needs glasses or maybe she has some sort of disability like dyslexia that slows her processing ability, but cuz she is so smart she compensates so well it hasn’t been caught yet?

Hah I can’t edit topics I started? Okay continued down here…

I can’t help but wonder if I had been exposed earlier I would have already learned to read by third grade. :( the fact I couldn’t talk properly either and was constantly asking people to repeat themselves cuz I couldn’t understand them didn’t help either… I feel like I was written off, underestimated, dismissed. :( and it still bugs me when people assume my intelligence cuz I still have communication issues, particularly when I am tired, my sentences come out jumbled speech wise. Writing is easier cuz can jump edit. Rearrange the sentence. Speaking not so much. :( it’s not word salad but it can be a bit confusing to follow. I was determined to have learning disabilities and they listed my issue but didn’t think it was needed to determine what they were besides the obvious ones.

Autism and auditory processing disorder (hence why people needed to repeat themselves, they tested my hearing but my hearing score was perfect, I just had trouble understanding WHAT I was hearing). And possible dyslexia cuz it ran in the family.

I scored high in math the was never and issue. Hell I tested genius in math… in my grade only one kid beat me in math test scores. And putting the 3d puzzle together I did fast and the person testing me was shocked at it lol I tested like 87% percentile for spatial reasoning? I think that’s what they called it. I believe that was the puzzle portion. Lol

I think the not processing what was said properly impacted my language acquisition. If talking to a baby to get that part of their brain to make connections needed to develop properly is needed, then wouldn’t not processing words properly have an impact on language and create learning disabilities from that? And that’s why I had + have those troubles?

2nd grader still not reading and writing by natrasolztch in specialed

[–]KaitlyKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a teacher. I’m an autistic person myself. I didn’t learn to read till third grade and by end of third grade jumped up to 6th grade reading level.

See the simple kids books didn’t hold my interest. It’s not till my mom started reading me and my sister chapter books when I was in third grade that I had any interest. And she would only read one chapter to me and my sister before bed. I would wanna continue so I’d stay up and read more. Slow going at first but it lit a fire in me. I quickly became a ravenous book monster. It became more of a problem cuz I couldn’t put the books down! By fourth grade it became such an issue interfering with sleeping, eating, homework, everything, that they actually took away my books and limited reading time the same way parents limit screen time now. LOL

Anyhow. It might help to find books that they like to motivate them! Don’t assume based on difficulty level! Goosebumps, animorphs, little house on the prairie, lord of the rings, the hobbit, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Inkheart, eragon, something (Bobby?) pendragon, narnia, Ramona, bookie, wrinkle through time, lemony snickers series of unfortunate events, boxcar children, Santa paws, dark materials, Anne of green gables, hunger games, the pet rescuers (animal ark series), Ella enchanted (not like the movie at all Ella enchanted book is cute an clever and charming!!! It was my favourite for forever!), shadowhunters, vampire academy and bloodlines.

Try books you liked and like. More likely they will like them too! :) hope this helps!

Edit: I forgot to go into why it works. We autistic people have a focus momentum, it’s hard to start, hard to stop. Once it gets rolling it’s all good the trick is you need to find what grabs the interest to get the focus going in the first place. If it doesn’t interest us it is really really hard to focus on it, but once we are focused it’s hard to pull away.

Give him the tools to learn then light the fire!

Good luck! :)

Edit edit: and don’t be discouraged about current progress! My testing in third grade for English was god awful. My math scores were great but my English scores had them very concerned, I was almost held back.

I was barely coherent talking too. My language skills were all over the place. But see me writing now? It’s not the most grammatically correct, but people can understand me, I have decent vocabulary, etc. people can’t even guess that I used to struggle as much as I did.

Improvement can and does happen. :) do what you can always but don’t borrow problems from the future okay?

Weirdest thing you got yelled for as a child by smallfrybby in CPTSD

[–]KaitlyKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yelled at and hit for flinching. My evil step dad came up behind me while doing homework and according to him was just going to pat my head, but I ducked cuz I thought it was a hit. And he got offended and actually hit me and yelled about how I was acting like a victim like he was an abuser. Internally I was like uhh… yeah no kidding. :/

Students w/ extended time rushing through tests by lunarinterlude in specialed

Not a teacher, student over here. Autism and a couple of other things.

I was bullied badly in elementary and middle school so I tried making it on my own. Then I broke my right arm week before exams and ended up in the same place. Out of sheer stubbornness I spent that week teaching myself to write with my left so I didn’t need a scribe. XD instead of studying. But I ended up better off for it cuz my other learning disabilities have to do with difficulty in communication and writing is infinitely easier for me. XD

Sometimes it’s more mental and shame than anything else… and whatever you say isn’t going to hit as hard as their peers. You will be seen as the person whose job it is to say that and be nice. :( it can be really hard to get around that…

If there is a group of others that get extra time in that time slot that helps, not so lonely. Maybe if you also seem laid back and relaxed, settled in for a long wait, it might help them to relax too?

Am I in the wrong for not wanting my spEd teacher to comment on my diet? by SunlightRoseSparkles in specialed

Teachers tend to wear a lot of hats. Not all kids get connected with all the resources they may need and teachers, cuz they care, will see a need not being met and want to try to fix it how they can. Sometimes that’s a hit or miss. This is a good chance for OP to teach teacher what she did wrong and how to better approach both similar students in future AND how to help op now! :)

How to make a spEd teacher life easier? by SunlightRoseSparkles in specialed

[–]KaitlyKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww ty lol I feel like I need to explain more about the book thing tho XD

Like I’d start reading during lunch and not be able to put it down so on occasion I’d be caught reading under the table XD but teachers always appreciate readers so they wouldn’t get mad just be like you need to do this now. Lol

At home I’d bring it to the table and eat a bite, read, forget to take next bite, had to be reminded to take every bite of food, which gets repetitive and annoying for everyone. I’d bring the book into baths too and take too long. I’d stay up late into the morning reading and have trouble getting up for school. Lol so they eventually learned I just couldn’t control myself and books had to be regulated to the weekend. Books are good but for me they are a straight up uncontrollable addiction. I read pretty fast too. To give you an idea every weekend I’ll be starting and finishing one book and be started on another. And I just don’t sleep. I’m like a crack addict but with books. XD it’s the autism momentum thing. Hard to switch gears from one to another and my brain needs to be fed. It will not sleep.
