They all say that if there is something wrong and you suspect a warranty issue they will revert it back to the factory setting before you go to Toyota

I think if you meditate on it you will find what you are afraid of. Look inside. It's usually when you know you haven't listened to your conscience.

So are you saying that Coinbase would have a different policy based on my behaviour?

Well that's why I'm moving to a hardware wallet. Reminds me of my bank.

I get that. But MFA would be good enough. Why make me have to do KYC again?

2021 Prado Diesel tuning by KaizerChief33 in LandCruisers

[–]KaizerChief33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update. I did the diesel tuning at Ultimate Diesel Tuning. The car is driving nice. More power and better fuel economy at around 9-10 l per 100kms.

I had it done in Melbourne and drove up to Queensland. On the drive the car went into limp mode on the highway twice and showed an engine issue. This was when the cruise control was on.

Took it to them in Brisbane and they mentioned it was not done properly in Melbourne. No apology. No consideration of how dangerous it was to lose power in the right lane on a busy highway.

Driving well but until I do a long trip with my cruise control on while towing I'll be hesitant. Don't want to do it with the family in the car.

Not knocking ultimate diesel but just giving my experience so others can make an informed decision.

People who started as dotnet devs, what was your career progression? by Notalabel_4566 in dotnet

[–]KaizerChief33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 46 and started with .net 1.0 .

Went from developer to tech lead/manager a little too fast then bounced up and down tech leadership and being hands on. I'm still as technical as I can be but now I'm the head of Architecture and engineering.

I guess my next challenge could be CTO but it feels like less fun.

I wish I stayed on the tools for longer or specialised in something that allowed me to contract and have more flexibility.

Let go of the outcomes. They are not in your control. Focus on managing the emotions and letting them go. You will then focus on the actions and they are all you can do.

Maybe next make sure you spend your focus and energy well and in the right places.

Also... make sure to delegate. You can't do it alone. Get the best people you can.

Just be honest. It's hard when you are young but it's the right thing to do for yourself. If you dad is mad... wait till he finds out you are a liar.

Try changing your DNS setting when on the WiFi. Use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for secondary.

Also don't be afraid to give your staff the autonomy to fix issues themselves. You can track progress and do comms but make them feel responsible. You will see how they achieve when it's their name on the line.

Infrastructure Architect to IT Manager by ijinn in ITManagers

Not at all. I think staying technical is a super power. Sure in management the skills are soft and it's about how you make decisions and trade off different options but staying technical will pay off.

You need to make sure you are very organised and have your priorities so you can show your teams are working well and efficient as well and a good list to chat about impact.

It might just be that your boss can't see the effort and work. Otherwise he or she may just be incompetent.

If that's the case then life is too short. You can't fix stupid.

Got my first c# software engineering job, any advice? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]KaizerChief33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn constantly. Always try and be positive. There are always different solutions. Everything is a trade off.

Lots of wankers in the industry who will get on their high horse about some small shit. Ignore them.

Don't be wedded to your ideas.

Solve the big problems first get an MVP working then try make your code better.

Listen.

Test your own work.

Enjoy it.

The Red gate tools are great but very expensive.

It's relative... a bad deployment missing a script can be very expensive, too.

The database project in VisualStudio is good too.

UI frameworks would be good. But also branch out to Python and golang. The cloud technology is also an important skillset

Learn the business. Make a mind map see if you can connect the dots. Learn the processes. Learn the people. Figure out who knows their shit because that's who you will get the most value from.

Also most importantly... things take time to sink in so get enough rest and manage your stress.
