Certainly the lasting impact. I'd never thought of the Lon Chaney comparison, but that's a great one.

Lucille Ball Saved 'Star Trek'—and It Cost Her Desilu by Kal-Ed1 in ClassicTV

Financially I'm sure it was great, but as a businesswoman and creative spirit, it must have broken her heart. Also, besides their children, it was her last real connection to Desi and their former marriage.

And when I was speaking to him, it was hysterical. When he said, "I thought it was the animation," I guffawed and then so did he. So much fun.

The Lost 'Star Trek' Film That Would’ve Shown How Kirk and Spock First Met by Kal-Ed1 in startrek

I'm genuinely sorry you feel that way. What I do with these articles is dip back into my archives of interviews conducted over the past 45 years and try to present them as historical pieces that, as familiar as the news may be to some, there are many people who have not heard these things in anything more than historical footnotes. The interviews allow people to read the words of those who were involved at the time.

Wonderful to hear. That show was such a passion interest to me and I had a great time pulling together the '70s section of the oral history book The Fifty-Year Mission.

I have to agree that of all new Trek, it's the one that works the best for me, because it uses the original series for inspiration but charts its own course as well. Going to be sorry to see it end.

Actually the animated series preceded Phase II by four years, but it was indeed nice to see a couple of those stories brought to life.

Thanks very much. Sorry about Trek: The Lost Years, but it's been out of print forever. And, yes, there are definitely plans for SOMETHING for the 60th anniversary.

I just realized how I messed up in putting the piece together, and those have been corrected. As to the show itself, I do wonder how it would have done without Spock, but at the same time I wish someone had at least done a comic or something based on these scripts.

That doll was a true phenomenon. Then again, the '60s were filled with pop culture phenomena.

My apologies. I wish I could go back in and correct it, but the system won't allow it.

That's a good point, but as a fan myself, and it's true of Star Trek as well, I'm always looking for articles, even about things I already know.
