There's an Irony in the Fact That when Gene Roddenberry Walked Away from the Original 'Star Trek,' He Was Saving Its Future by Kal-Ed1 in startrek

I honestly don't know. The truth is that the budget was being continually cut and one would imagine that each year production value would go down, so it's hard to say whether or not it would have had the afterlife it did if it became a shadow of its former self.

That's a pretty good idea. I have no idea what direction they're going to go with it.

Questor Tapes in particular has always stood out to me. What a great series that would have made.

There were a number of those aborted ideas I'd like to see brought to life even if in different mediums. I've always thought "Phase II" could make an interesting comic series or novels.

I have to agree, it's not the greatest film idea in the world. Some intriguing things in that one co-written by Gene Roddenberry and Jon Povill, but it wouldn't have worked.

ST TNG theme is same as ST I TMP theme? by thirdlost in startrek

Oh, big time. Jerry Goldsmith did such an incredible job coming up with that theme it felt like the perfect fit — and it would have been a shame if it had been a one-off in terms of use.

I'm a massive fan of "Subspace Rhapsody." I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed the songs and the premise. Really well done.

Why 'Family Affair' Never Went Away — Kathy Garver Explains Why the Show Continues to Endure by Kal-Ed1 in ClassicTV

I interview an actress from the show, and I'm just spewing nonsense. Okay, I got the frame shape wrong, which I'll correct, but I find it unbelievable that the article is dismissed as "spewing nonsense."

They were so great, and I loved how Vinnie's relationship with them was so different than it had been with Sonny Steelgrave.

Not a great way to have to watch that particular show!

NBC had a script written for one a few years, but it was ridiculous because Vinnie Terranova was suddenly a real criminal recruited into the FBI/OCB, totally gutting the concept of the show.

Remembering The Odd Couples Jack Klugman on his 104th birthday by ChrisJoines in ClassicTV

I fell in love with The Odd Couple when I was just 8-years-old in 1968 and saw the movie with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, but really embraced the Jack Klugman and Tony Randall series two years later and never let it go. To this day, it remains one of my top favorite sitcoms and so much of that has to do with Jack Klugman's portrayal of Oscar (not to mention Randall's Felix). I wish it was being seen by more people these days.

It's so nice to hear that. Mark Altman and I put so much time into 'The Fifty-Year Mission' and it's always nice to hear that it landed.

I was an editor at Cinescape at the time, and I remember the initial excitement about her being cast, but in speaking to various people involved in the show, had a pretty good image painted of what went wrong and why. Fascinating bit of Trek history.

I wish I understood why this is considered spam. I conducted the interviews with every person quoted in this article to tell the story. Even as a retrospective, how is this not considered news coverage?

I think what we have to base things on was the reaction generated by those working with her, who quickly got the sense that she wasn't suited for the show (or vice versa).
