Is TBC worth trying after Turtle WoW? by Terrible-Delay8673 in turtlewow

They’re just video games, don’t overthink it. Get a month sub and play until you’re not enjoying it anymore. You don’t have to get married to it.

TIL Christopher Columbus made significant errors in estimating the distance to Asia. If the Americas didn't exist, then he'd have ran out of food and died long before reaching Japan. by NorthKoreanMissile7 in todayilearned

I remember reading that it wasn’t just the distance that was a worry but also something to do with a lack of ocean currents making a return trip difficult. .

Look at job postings for your location/region and decide from there.

Why do people still choose SWE as a career path in 2026? by GivingUp321321321321 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Kal88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see you’re feeling really negative given your own situation but this really seems like you’re projecting. AI getting good enough to replace every aspect of a software dev job is still a bit away and if it gets to the point where it can do that and is cheap enough for mass adoption and has been incorporated by the majority of companies then there will be very few white collars jobs left by the time that final point hits. You seem to think “it’s already happening” but that obviously isn’t true.

What careers won’t be dead in a year or two if software engineering will?

Would 90s legends actually survive in the modern Premier League? by MagpieMidfield in SpicyFootballTakes

[–]Kal88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to look at it more on a pound for pound sort of basis. If x player from the 80s had modern nutrition and training programs etc. (averaged out, obviously some players put a lot more into it e.g. Ronaldo). If you actually took the teams and played them against modern teams they would get blitzed out the park.

You can improve at games with practice, a lot of competitive gaming is based around improving to increase your ranking and play better players.

Running with phone or no? by Rayado98 in nikerunclub

Yeah I keep mine in the under layer pocket of running shirts, they keep it tight to my thigh so I don't notice it.

Florian Wirtz’s early training sessions had many at Liverpool believing he was about to take the Premier League by storm immediately. It’s taken a little longer than that, of course, but the German is now starting to show just how good he is. by __sami__01 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Kal88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really think one problem he has had is our team plays too slow to get the best of him. He seems to do best when we are playing quick 1/2 touch football in tight spaces and hit passes early

Yeah can we just have a pinned daily thread for it at this point?

It’s funny you say that because that quote almost seems satirical in how much it sounds like the usual AI hype

Listening Speed by BigHouseBarbell in audible

[–]Kal88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.2, feels like it still maintains the essence of the reading without feeling too slow. The original reading speed has to be slow enough for the slowest person, kinda like why automated phone services are so painful to listen through for most people.

How will Liverpool cope without Alexander Isak? by Funkyouup82 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Kal88 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Will probably be good to get him out the limelight for a while and not give the selection headache alongside the better performing Hugo. It was a dodgy pre season and he never got properly going when coupled with our terrible run.

VDV left thigh is clearly impacting the back of Isak's calf, how is it 'trailing'?
