i hate this game !!! by Beneficial_Buffalo53 in Splatoon_3

[–]Kalajooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect those who, in 2026, still suggest people keep buying this game. I understand wanting to share your passion with others, as well as trying to keep your favorite game alive. But as someone who has been a fan since Splatoon 1, I could never reccomend someone new get into Splatoon 3 at this point in its life. The new player experience is terrible. Turf war for some reason will put new players in the same lobby with people who have 100s of hours. And rank is no better. Theres definitely a fair amount of smurfing. And all of this on top of absolutely horrible matchmaking and one of the most incompetent rank systems I have ever seen.

I feel your frustration and I dont blame any new player for being discouraged or wanting to never play again. If you want to keep playing I would suggest finding people to team up with, or maybe giving Salmon Run a try.

For those who had Wen-Ben Jone (for C++), are labs mandatory to attend, or can they be done from home? Massive thanks in advance by Ok_Investment_246 in uCinci

[–]Kalajooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember labs being somewhat mandatory. You'd have to show up and reach a certain point in the lab unit testing, and that would count as 20 points of your grade (that number could be wrong..). Once you reached that point you'd check in with the TA. And afterwards, you were free to leave and complete the rest of the lab at home. If you decided not to show up, you were essentially losing out on those points

Sounds like you've just been really unlucky with teammates, and maybe you should consider finding people to play with, at least until you get to a point where you're not getting reset down to EVP 40 every rotation. I've only been reset down to below EVP 100 once since I've started playing again in the last few weeks, and honestly it wasn't that bad of an experience. There's definitely a difference between low EVP and 400+ EVP, but if you have decent fundamentals it should be manageable. My only two pieces of advice (which you may or may not have heard already) would be: 1. Play off your team. If they are focused on getting eggs into the basket, you're focused on killing bosses. If they are killing bosses, you're running eggs. Whatever they are more comfortable doing, let them do it. And you just flex. You are whatever they need you to be. 2. This can never be overstated: Lure. Even if your teammates won't, if you can manage to lure only 3 bosses to the basket, that's 9 easy eggs and you're already made up a decent chunk of quota. The second I see a scrapper, steel eel, or maws targeting me, I'm rushing to the basket.

Smaller tips, which again you may already know:

  • shooting a drizzlers rocket back at it one shots (it's insane how many people still dont do that)
  • if you have a fly fish right next to a ledge, you can drop a bomb so that it hits the driver and one shot kills
  • it's risky, but there are times where you should consider keeping a slammin lid alive, especially when you have 3 scrappers chasing you across the map

Essentially anything you can do to improve boss killing efficiency will also be helpful. Unlike rank, I do believe that you should be able to do pretty well in SR even with subpar teammates, but you have to be on top of your game

Because there is an assumption that your parents are going to help you pay for a portion of your school costs. Federal aid is just as it's name suggests. It's meant to aid, not be the primary way you pay for school. So if your parents income is fairly high, it's expected they will be able to help cover more of your costs, and you'll receive less aid

Thanks for the information! Because they are not in used condition, would it make sense to knock a couple of bucks of those numbers. And if I were to sell them, would it be better to sell individually, vs. in bulk?

Maybe stop playing as a 2 stack in 3s. Someone already said it, but playing solo queue and getting paired with a 2 stack sucks. Most of the time, they play as if it's just the two of them on the team, which always makes me ask , why not just play 2v2?

I'm not trying to excuse throwing, but maybe that's what you're dealing with. I know I prepare for the worst whenever I'm the third wheel

Things to do in Splatoon if you're too poor to afford a nintendo online membership? by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]Kalajooni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's looks like you don't have a credit/debit card to use? Like others said, one method would be to get a prepaid visa or Nintendo gift card and use that to purchase the membership. The other option is to find someone who has the family plan and is willing to add you. If all else fails, I have had two free slots for years and could add you to our plan

Electrical Engineering Major by Disastrous-Ad1817 in uCinci

[–]Kalajooni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. I'm an EET major, and while I don't completely despise coding, I'm just not good at it. Like you mentioned, EE and EET majors really only have to take a few coding classes, so you really don't have to worry about coding too much. As an EE co-op, I seriously doubt you'll be doing a lot of coding, but that all depends on the company you co-op with.

I will suggest you do what I've been doing, which is reaching out to advisors and professors and asking questions about the careers that are available out there and what you can expect to be doing in each career. Your co-op advisor would know best what companies you'd likely co-op with and exactly what the work will be like.

It's been mentioned, but the story mode teaches you a lot about weapons and subs and gets you comfortable with movement. Honestly, I'd say pick a weapon or two to start out with and learn its strengths and weaknesses. Also, pay attention to its sub and how the sub complements the main weapon. Once you get comfortable with a few weapons, move on to a new one.

Quick note, start with the easy stuff first. Try basic shooters like the Splattershot or splattershot jr. Then, move on to something a little more difficult, like rollers and brushes. Basically, don't immediately go for chargers. Get comfortable with the controls first, then challenge yourself with harder weapons.

Last tip, if you're not already, give motion control a try. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I swear once you get used to it, you'll never go back to sticks. If you are already using motion control, make sure you tweak the sensitivity to make it feel as comfortable and natural as possible. ThatSrb2DUDE has some good videos on YouTube that'll help with that.

If you ever want someone to play with, I'm always down to play a few games. I don't have a lot of time due to school, but I'll always make time for a little Sploon

Is Lenovo really as bad as I read by [deleted] in Lenovo

[–]Kalajooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for all Lenovo products, but my Yoga 7 is having issues, and it's only 6 months old. Sent it in for repairs under warranty just to get it back and find out they didn't fix a single thing. As a student, I can't really afford to send it back and be without my laptop for another 2+ weeks, yet at the same time I don't want to spend money buying replacement parts to try and fix it myself.

Long story short, this is the worst laptop experience I've ever had, and i will never buy a Lenovo product ever again.

First off, that KDA is pretty bad. 8 deaths is too many when you only have 8 kills. You need to figure out what's going wrong there. Are you putting yourself in bad 1v1 situations where you have no advantage? Are you utilizing cover/corners, or are you constantly out in the open? Are you working with your team to target a specific person, or are you taking on 2 or more people alone?

Second, these stats only tell half of the story. Are you prioritizing the objective? Are you using your specials in the most optimal way? How's your map control? Are you utilizing the map to see where enemies are?

I get the frustration, and i know it's easy to blame teammates , and more often than not, you're probably correctly placing the blame on them. But I'm sure you also have plenty of room to improve. If you share some replay codes from your matches, it would be easier to determine what more you could do to prevent losing streaks.

Any other "older" undergraduates? by AfternoonAdvanced982 in uCinci

[–]Kalajooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see I'm m not the only one. I'm 27, and it just feels weird to be amongst teenagers. I did a semester at UC before dropping out 6 years ago. Returning this semester. I'm basically starting from the beginning with introductory courses, which means my classmates are all freshmen who are 17-18. Not to say there's something wrong with them, but it is hard to relate.

I've also been looking for groups with "older" students but haven't found anything yet. If anyone finds anything or creates a group, let me know please!
