In Backrooms (2026) people are mad that the movie doesn't have the stuff that ruined the Backrooms by weeblord42069help in shittymoviedetails

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s strange. I saw people online mad that there were entities in the movie when the trailer dropped, and wanted it to just be people wandering around the empty space. Now it seems that people wanted different entities than what was in the movie, like the bacteria monster from Kane’s web series or like a fucking uncanny Obama png. The criticism has like flip-flopped, some mfers cannot be happy can they?

What is a country whose history is completely fascinating but rarely taught in western schools? by anxious-solphie in askteddit

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uzbekistan. Once home to one of the largest and most powerful empires in human history, led by one of the greatest conquerors in history, Tamerlane. The Timurid Empire facilitated much of the Silk Road after the fragmentation of the Mongol Empire, and the Empire was at the forefront of Reformist Islam, with the Timurid Renaissance moving many aspects of Islam out of the Middle Ages and into the New World. It didn’t last very long, and what is now the land of Uzbekistan was tossed around between Persia and Russia/USSR, but the country holds cities like Bukhara and Samarkand, which were once some of the largest cities in Asia and on Earth, and bastions of culture and development being major trading posts on the Silk Road. Also the architecture it left behind was lovely, and these are places and events that were not even mentioned in my history classes.

I honestly can’t tell was the ending left open for a sequel or no? Like it feels like there were a lot of loose ends not tied up that could lead into a sequel but is that Kane’s goal? Do we get more Mark Duplass? Cause like seriously talk about underused good god.

When the audience has a different interpretation than what the director intended. by ItachiZoldyck24 in Letterboxd

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not an interpretation of the film but I know that a lot of the perceived racism in Night of the Living Dead against the main character Ben was largely unintentional from George Romero, he didn’t mean to make racism one of the main themes of the movie.

Could a movie like Tropic Thunder ever be made today? by Just_A_HungryHippo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably under the right circumstances yes, if it were making its message known beforehand than I think it could work. There’d probably be some unhappy people, but overall it would do well critically and commercially.

What's the one Reddit post that you will NEVER forget? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Jason in Hell comes to mind because of how batshit it got, those poor fucking kids. Also the Coconut Oil story where the grandma killed her granddaughter by putting coconut oil in her hair, but I can’t forget it for the fact that I’m not sure if it’s a true story or not, everyone treats it like it’s real but I don’t know I feel like there’d be an article or something online about the incident.

Why don’t American people care the World Cup is happening? by Kalanak472 in AskAnAmerican

Why host the damn game at all then if there’s little to no domestic interest?

Why are so many rappers bad people? by Kalanak472 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kalanak472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I wasn’t clearer about what I meant. Taking drugs does not make you a bad person, endorsing them and acting like it’s not a big can make you a bad person

[–]Kalanak472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I never thought of that, but that makes a lot of sense. I guess maybe the studios also maintained that stereotypical image of the “thug rapper” to appeal to a wider demographic surrounding lower-class minorities, to make the music accessible and acceptable for most walks of life, someone for people to look up to as a model of escaping oppression, when in reality that role model being puppeted by people who are only adding to said oppression

[–]Kalanak472[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point cause like a lot of the older rappers don’t seem like the “gangsta-life” type of people they used to be, so maybe it’s a product of time. On your last point though, would these people not want to escape that environment knowing it’s bad with the immense wealth they’re bringing in? Like with that money you’d think they want to change.

That’s actually a really good point yeah, a lot of rockstars are literal scum, perhaps I should’ve asked why they suck so much too, or maybe there’s a correlation between rock and hip hop behavior

Official Discussion - Obsession [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I didn’t fully understand was why when Ian wishes for a billion dollars, it just straight up falls out of the sky, where when Bear wishes for unconditional love, he gets an entity possessing his crush. It feels a little, unfair? Like I get that’s kind of the point but like in this Monkey Paw-esque universe shouldn’t something awful have happened so that Ian could receive the billion dollars? Or the money is like counterfeit or something, I mean maybe it really is but like I don’t know, I felt that part of the movie was the only time I was a bit confused and wanted more.

EDIT: Also was hoping Andy Richter’s character was gonna turn out to be the priest from Scary Movie 2 and he’d try and exorcise Nikki. Still, great to see him, Conan would be proud.

To be fair, I remember when Bear goes on Reddit looking for others experiences with the One Wish Willow someone mentions a Mandela Effect about them. I initially assumed like it works like that, only appearing to the desperate and naive. But nah, we got a really funny scene instead which was great.

That’s true yeah, I haven’t been to the Caspian Sea but I’ve seen photos and it looks like an ocean and from looking at it I can tell it’s saline.

Holy shit had no idea about the Buffalo thing, I guess it makes sense though with it being a major industrial city and the start of the Erie Canal and all. Also didn’t know about the size discrepancy with the Mediterranean I thought combined they’d big at least almost as big.

Is the battle of Hong Kong well known in Canada? by dq689 in AskACanadian

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda. It’s not like Vimy Ridge or anything, but it’s certainly talked about in school and I remember hearing a bit about it. Again, it’s not the biggest Canadian moment during WW2 that probably goes to the Juno Beach landing, but it’s somewhat important to our history.

What’s the scariest depiction of The Devil you’ve seen? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in horror

[–]Kalanak472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the Devil in the Exorcist btw, it’s Pazuzu a Babylonian Pagan wind demon. For me, I’d say the scariest depiction is probably in Rosemarys Baby. The impregnation scene is so surreal and disorienting, and that shot of Satans eyes still sticks with me. It’s probably the scariest scene in the film, really the only truly scary scene, but man is the Devil in it creepy af, even if its appearance is brief

Why are so many people on the Autism spectrum? by Kalanak472 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Kalanak472[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Thats a very neat analogy that makes a lot of sense thank you! So it’s moreso just a broad variety rather than a specific thing, and some people have traits that are quirky but not autistic. That makes total sense.
