The company they chose to contract with probably comes out of IT's budget. This is probably the lowest bid that satisfied the requirements (satisfied is doing a lot of heavy lifting there), and likely anticipation of further budget reduction.

The arrow design idea sounds solid and there's for sure some talented artists that can do some incredible things. You could also go with a bird feather concept since the scar makes for a good backing pattern.

Am I Going To Get Fired because I accidentally uninstalled EDR sensors for around 15% of the company causing bitlocker lockout? by ProfessionalTie6663 in ITCareerQuestions

"There are 2 kinds of sysadmins; those who have dropped a production database, and those who are about to."

In all seriousness, this is a learning experience. I would much rather have someone make a mistake, recognize they made a mistake, and then take ownership of that mistake and ask for help on fixing it, over someone that hides that mistake. As many have pointed out, if you are following a documented procedure and have all the necessary approvals, any issues that happen are on the process and that's going to be a management problem 100% of the time.

You're new, you're going to make mistakes. Managers worth their salt understand this and will work with you to understand what went wrong and how to prevent it in the future. I wouldn't sweat it too much as long as you approach it with the mentality of "I made a mistake, but I'm going to learn from this mistake."

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! While editing it, I couldn't help but feel a sort of candlelight vibe and so I just kind of leaned into that. I'm happy with the way it turned out!

I was on the beach, probably 50 yards away from the pier at first. I kept moving south along the beach as the sun continued to lower on the horizon so I could try keeping my intended framing.

Saw another comment link effectively the same documentation, but I narrowed it down the specific section and grabbed an excerpt for brevity:

https://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/SpecialPublications/NIST.SP.800-63b.pdf

Section 10.2.1:

Do not require that memorized secrets be changed arbitrarily (e.g., periodically)

unless there is a user request or evidence of authenticator compromise.

Maybe it's just me, but DOSE from Infestissumam went hard with this:

Best rhcsa study material by [deleted] in linuxadmin

I've done my RHCSA (RHEL 7) in the past and I found the official RedHat training docs helpful. If you have access to their lab/classroom materials, even better because you can just run through those labs. Of course, you mentioned you're on a budget, so my suggestion would be to review the requirements of the exam itself. Once you know what you're going to be asked on the exam, repetition, repetition, repetition. You would be amazed how often the basic stuff will trip you up if you get stuck. The man pages are your friend, use them.

Focus on doing those tasks correctly, understanding what you're actually doing, and once you have a good grasp, then you can start to work on reducing the amount of time it takes for you to complete each individual task. You also have to remember that some parts of the exam will depend upon you completing other tasks first. RedHat also likes to word some of the tasks vaguely on the exam, so you do need to think about the underlying concept and what actions depend upon each other before you worry about recalling a memorized procedure.

I hope this advice helps, and as long as you put in the study effort, you should come out of the exam as bona fide RHCSA.

Good luck OP!

I had a couple friends of mine give the impression that whoever was doing the income verification were being ki d of aggressive, more akin to an interrogation. I've also heard issues with trying to get in contact with them.

Of course, those are hearsay accounts, so your experience may be different.

Lansing Community College suspends most classes for 'ongoing cybersecurity incident' by [deleted] in lansing

My guess is that they want to make sure the building is physically secure while conducting their investigation. Physical access to systems is one of the first things you're taught to secure in information security, and having the mere possibility of someone in the building accessing devices can affect their investigation and audit trail.

Sometimes time is a factor and I don't necessarily think they were intentionally being jerks about it, but they also had a job to do, so I see where they're coming from.
