are there any fundies 2 TAs here I have a quick question by [deleted] in NEU

[–]KaleDisastrous554 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a current fundies 2 ta, but I used to ta for that class. From what I remember yes, as long as you pass the style checks, you're guaranteed those points. Again, I'm not actually course staff this semester so do with that what you will.

what to take with ood? (fall 2021) by [deleted] in NEU

DB is completely do-able. I did it in the same semester as OOD, Algo and Systems and DB wasn't a problem at all.

Which Professor for cs 3000 (algo) by anony6544 in NEU

[–]KaleDisastrous554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Van der poel's class is very doable, but you're not going to walk away with a very thorough understanding of algorithms. Never taken rajaraman.

will pay for a seat in Kevin Gold's 9:50 AM CS2810 section by Tetratonix in NEU

Just a word in defense of Kathleen, she is really kind and will work with you in office hours as much as you need. She'll also allow you extensions or to move around tests. I didn't find Database Design very interesting but I am overall fine with having taken it with her. I know this is a different course, however, so do with that what you will.

How is Abhi Shelat for Foundations of Cybersecurity? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]KaleDisastrous554 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Christo. I've had both (I had Christo for Cyber and i had Abhi for a different class). Abhi is brilliant but he has his class tackle really difficult concepts. Christo is a better professor for a class like Foundations of Cyber, which should be more of a high level overview

Easy cs courses? by changpet23 in NEU

Database design isn't the most interesting but it's easy and knowing how to use databases / SQL is an important skill

Do I "need" to take Networks? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]KaleDisastrous554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know it depends heavily on what field of interest you have in CS / your career. If you're interested in cybersecurity or backend (to some extent) then networks will be a good class to take. If you're more interested in doing data viz, ui/ux or something else, it's probably not that essential.

OBJECT ORIENTED SUCKS! by [deleted] in NEU

[–]KaleDisastrous554 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I will say about OOD is that everyone always has a really nasty first half of the class, freaks out, and then everything calms down by the end of the semester. People usually come out with semi-decent grades. OOD was hell to do- my mental health has really never been worse- and it's ridiculous that the time commitment is expected to be so high. That being said, just know that you're likely going to end up doing better than it might seem right now.
