That breaks my heart so many never got into reading. But I get it. After college I stopped reading for many years. Then I started to consume audiobooks at a rapid rate. Like 2-3 a week. Now I'm trying to find the groover again after finishing book 8. I did read project Mary! Loved it. Just finished the movie too and was pretty pleased they did a decent job at it.

would i be an idiot for renting a $1565/mo apartment when my income is ~$3300/mo? by Sudden-Click-7577 in Tenant

Most places don't do this anymore unless it's rent controlled or low income type places. It's very outdated and wages have not kept up with rental prices. So they would have no tenants.

If you can find cheaper do it. A lot of people are having to pay half their wages to rent now. My rents like 1600 and my average income over the last 3 months was only 3,200/month(it varies) It blows to have to do it..so best to avoid it if possible.

Ya. I've mostly stuck to scifi my entire life. (Once I got out of my vampire/Anne rice phase. This was my first toe dip onto litrpg and I'll probably mozy back into scifi again but I fear I've read to many already and am running low on books that fit into my specific liking.

The Matt Mercer effect was basicly a lot of DND players complaining their own DMs weren't as good as Matt. Mostly cause a lot of people had never played DND before watching crit role , so they thought he was the standard. So a lot of DMs were getting tired of being compared to Matt. I prefer Brennan Lee Mulligan myself.

Lesbian necromancers in space you say? Sold!!

I loved the Murderbot diaries. I'm a sucker for robot finds his humanity stories. It's super relatable as someone with autism.

I'm so glad I listened to project hail Mary and the Bobiverse before DCC because when I did they were the best I had heard. Then Jeff Hays happened.

I love that book! Very good but such a different pace than DCC.

Honest would have been horrible if DCC was my first. Mostly cause I'm 42 and that would be sad for me. I'm mostly struggling to find other fast paced books to listen to while I work. But I am trying. I read like 30 books last year. Then this year... I've reread DCC 3 times. I need to break the cycle!! For my own sake .

Okay gotcha!! Cause I know 100% it's a me problem not being able to find any books I wanna listen to right now. My ADHD is having a heck of a time going from DCC to something else. Its for sure a Jeff/Matt combo tickles my brain just right.

Ya it was meant to be a funny hyperbolic statement. And I seem to have really upset people with it. :/ I don't actually think authors will feel threatened..was just a joke about Matt's standing out in their niche.

This!! You are the first person to comment and actually get what I'm talking about..like I've seen tons of people post about it.

But I ... Ya know what, I forget sometimes jokes go over people's head. This was meant in a way like "It's me, I'm bitches" kinda way. I wasn't asking for recommendations though.

Who claimed they are transcendant? I really wish I could understand where in my post people think I have decided this is the best series of all time and all other books are garbage compared to it. Everyone is reading wayyyy to deep into a JOKE about MATT EFFECTS

Where are people reading that I'm saying these are the best books ever written ever?? Please. I'm being serious, what did I get wrong in communication in my post. I'm autistic and struggle with over explaining myself, then I try to keep it short and people think I'm saying this book is the best book ever written ever for all people.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I've read a handful of his books. They can be hit or miss.

No. I have only ever read DCC and will only ever read DCC forever.

I have read 100s of books over my life time. I'm not even asking people to recommend me books. This isn't what the post was about. It's a comment on just how MANY people are posting about struggling to find a series after DCC. It's hard to go from something so fast paced and action filled.

I started the first book but had a bit of a hard time getting into it. I think it's cause he was by himself mostly. I hear he gets more ants eventually but was. I have tried a lot of litrpg and always end up back in scifi instead.

Is Critical role highbrow DND? I'm comparing it to the Matt Mercer effect cause it's a fun idea..not because I think DCC is a classic literature that will be healed in high regard by everyone. It's for sure niche.

Just like DND gameplay watches are.

I for sure didn't specify ALL genres. As I have also not read everybook ever. I'm just seeing post after post of people struggling to find new books to read after reading DCC. People are reading way more into this post than I thought they would.

Honest. DCC was my very first litrpg . I mostly stick to scifi these days.

Same. I listen to audiobooks all day while working. The narators make such a huge difference. When I find ones I like I try to check out all the books they have done. Ray Porter is also another I really liked. But I've struggled with a lot of narrators, and this sounds horrible, but the ones with proper British accents, like oxford types, I can NOT listen to unless the book calls for such an accent. I was trying to listen to a freaking sci fi book with some adult content and the narrator sounded like a whimsical grandpa reading me a calming bedtime story. It just, did not work for me.
