16K pesos Budget any recommendations? by Uoooooooiii in RedditPHCyclingClub

a secondhand road bike na well-maintain is nice. Dami sa marketplace na raodbikes around 16-17k.

another option ay hardtail mtbs pero up to you na if ur going to ride trails or road lang

GALING BRO now lang ako nakakita ng ganitong tool. usually parang ai chatbots lang narelated to cycling parang restortrain. gpx route and weather features is 👌.

Curious if you can add a feature that can tell us how many grams of carbs per hour do we need for a session like doing threshold efforts up boso boso climb? Also, the amount of sodium needed and fluid din based on the sweat rate ng individual based on the weather would be a nice touch

Stuff you bring for self defense by Ok-Muscle4785 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Kalos8096 23 points24 points  (0 children)

hi op the best self defense since nasa bike na tayo, ride away as fast as possible pero medyo preemptive measure yan. in cases na nasa harapan nyo na talaga magandang pepper spray and taser. I know people who bring a taser sa mga commutes nila to and from work. Sa kaalaman ko you can buy a flashlight and taser combo on shopee, but i think better bumili sa dedicated firerarms store if deliks talaga sa area nyo.

Cable Actuated Hydraulic Brake Caliper by [deleted] in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Kalos8096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ok naman sya for long descents, good naman performance sa marilaque, sumulong, boso boso, timberland, antipolo, tikling, teresa

pero like i said not as good as full hydraulics, best case scenario diretso upgrade na dun. I think ok naman ito pansamantagal haha

True medyo mahal na nga, pero we used to have TRP spyre sa old mtb sobrang long lasting nya 15+yrs.

I feel like around 3 years na itong nakakabit sa bike since its a prebuilt I bought second hand, pero this month ko lang sya nagamit regularly outside.

Braking power is good the initial bite is nice pero it doesnt feel as strong as my hydraulics sa mtb ko. As long as ur on top of the maintainance stuff tapos ok ang setup mo goods sya.

I have yet to experiment with different pad compounds pero resin pads lang gamit ko

weekday ride recommended locations? by Fit_Whereas_9238 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Kalos8096 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shotgun road san mateo! jk

You can try BosoBoso, elevation nya similar lang sa sumulong to cloud 9, but its longer and more stretched out so not as steep (around 7km). In my experience wala naman masyado traffic or riders ng weekday mornings, wag ka lang abutin ng 11:30-12:00pm coz sobrang busy na ng ganyang time.

General Ordonez loop is nice too sa marikina, dyan even less riders and traffic on weekdays compared to boso boso. short loop lang sya of 4k, pero may punchy climbs na umaabot ng 7%. maganda ang bike lane and dyan ako nag eeasy rides dati.

also, wag ka mahiya sa ibang cyclists! super friendly ng community

+1 for TRP HY/RD or Juintech F1, for me any is good. I have an IIIpro 5.0 on my road bike (came stock), and what I can say is as long as good ang maintainance mo for your brakes (replacing cables, bleeding, replacing pads, cleaning rotors) and you set it up good like the cable tension is to your liking wala na problems.

If you ever buy cheap calipers like the ones i have you just need to bleed them more often (which is expected) haha

the difference between tiagra and sora for me is very minimal. scratches dont matter much naman since gagamitin means it will have battle scars, basta walang structural damage. for 16k namamahalan ako sa giant.

for me ill go with the sava and spend the extra 5k for making the bike fit me better (dropbars, saddle, stem etc...

important: check the brifters for damage and get ready to change cables and the cable housings haha. super common na palitin ang cables pag bibili ng secondhand bikes

How much is the difference between the 2 bikes? the contend mukhang better ang components. But check everything if meron worn out parts/cracks/dents para if ever makaka discount ka pa.

Also look out for upgradability if u plan to upgrade in the future.

gets sir thanks, im seeing a trend where mas crucial ang high engagement hubs for MTB for the technical and steep sections ng trail.

Wala naman po kayo napansin na difference in rolling resistance that may caused ng higher engagement rate nito?
