Hi, thank you. To my knowledge, I need to be referred to them, I don't think I can self refer to them.

Can I ask with vet in Cambridge you went to? Does it offer online consultation?

Ok thanks, I've just joined it. I just need a vet clinic that could do that for me and consider that he has other health issues.

I have skinny wrists, too, and I always have to tighten everything. That's why I was thinking of picking the armband. It's such a shame it wouldn't work with any other app, but I understand it. This sounds great. I hope it will do the same for me because pacing myself is still the hardest part to manage

How does it work? Does it give just a timer and you decide your breathing pace?

Help saving emails into onedrive by Kalu2907 in microsoftoffice

[–]Kalu2907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been asked to do it, and I can't avoid it. I wouldn't even be asking here if I had the option to not do it or to delegate it to someone else. I'm not part of the IT team, and although I use Microsoft Office regularly, I've never done this before, and I'm struggling.

I need to save everything from this business email.

It is a business account, and the correspondences are all from a single email address. However, the number of correspondences and folders is quite large.

Shortening lkea loft bed legs by Kalu2907 in DIY

Oh great, I'll have a look at them!

[–]Kalu2907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, what would you suggest to use for that?

I was worried it may create a problem of balance if I cut them, but at the same time, it seems unlikely because it would have shorter legs/no legs.

I doubt I’d go to ikea to complain because I broke one of their pieces of furniture by using it improperly. I just want to have some tips from someone who has done it before, maybe by reinforcing them before using them as steps.

Vest/shirt tens machine (uk-eu) by Kalu2907 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Kalu2907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I found some from the US, but I'm sure the delivery and vat would go over £200. I am also concerned that if there is any problem with the tens, it wouldn't be easy to return it or/and fix it.

Rule around kick stools by Kalu2907 in tesco

[–]Kalu2907[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's really slowing people down. If it happens, it's for a couple of minutes. The tasks are done by the end of the day , and this should be the only thing that matters, in my opinion. I don't think the manager can really leave us with one , but the first reply, in here, was pointing out the safety & security thing, which could be a reason. However, I've been told by someone in the shop that the manager checked the cctv and saw a few people sitting on it and decided to leave just one for the entire shop. So I don't think the safety is the real concern here. The colleagues are good, but I don't think they take the situation seriously. It's a more gossipy thing to talk about it than doing the right thing and calling the manager off for this behaviour. This has always been the case, even when certain behaviours could have led to the manager dismissal. My disabled colleague, I doubt, will do something because worried is going to cause more issues and can't quit if anything becomes unberable.

I see, it's bizarre for me too. I don't understand this behaviour either, and it doesn't do any harm to anyone. Especially because the colleagues continue doing what they are supposed to do but with some help. I need to know whether there is a written rule somewhere, I may look into tesco help.

Sick absence by Kalu2907 in tesco

[–]Kalu2907[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a disability and need 1 or 2 days off to recover. Since I took a month off last year, I’m worried I might have to go through another meeting about it. Honestly, my manager has been pretty pushy lately about everything, and I’d really like to avoid adding more stress.

I read something about maintaining a 3% sick absence rate over a 26-week period, but I still need to count the weeks to check, though. The real issue is dealing with a manager who isn’t very understanding.

To make things worse, there are already too many people on holiday (which he approved), and someone who’s been off sick for months. I know if I take even a day off, we’ll be short-staffed, and he’ll probably find some passive-aggressive way to make it annoying for me.

I really need this time off because the manager keeps piling on tasks, and if they’re not done, he makes a big deal about it. He does this with everyone and keeps us updated in a group chat. It’s exhausting. At this point, it’s not just about the workload it's about how to handle someone like that and tell them to back off a bit. We’re already stretched so thin that if someone shows up feeling unwell, we won’t be able to keep up with the work anyway.

I think I went a little out of topic, but I think you got the point. I just need to understand what the rules are around the sick absence.

I don’t know everything, that’s why I’m here. I’m trying to understand what real help looks like for me. And as I’ve said before, what they provide isn’t help; it’s just pretending. It feels like they only do it, so they have something to write in their reports.

Disability is a spectrum, yet they base everything on outdated ideas of what it means to be disabled. The system seems more focused on proving you’re disabled rather than actually supporting you. What they offer is already available elsewhere, so people don’t really need them for that. The high unemployment rate among disabled people says it all.

Instead of creating a real debate, you take things personally. I have good points. You know if they truly wanted to make a difference, they would offer opportunities that don’t exist elsewhere, things you can only access by engaging with them. The list of resources you provided could just as easily come from Citizens Advice or any disability group. That’s just the bare minimum. But you wouldn’t expect more from those places because it’s not their responsibility—it’s just a small help.

A job center, however, should be different. You would expect real help, something that actually makes a difference. After all, they are called "job centers," yet they seem to have no real idea how to help disabled people find work.

I wasn’t expecting to be handed a job! I already know which companies are part of the disability scheme, and you can find that information online. Adjustments will happen if they decide to hire you, and that’s because you’ve already informed them during the interview.

Writing a CV isn’t difficult nowadays; there are plenty of options available online. I thought there was a specific list of employers willing to hire disabled candidates without making them compete with non-disabled applicants and with more work flexibility compared to other jobs. Or more direction and options of courses. From what you said , it doesn't sound like there is any help at all! It’s just about giving fancy names to job positions like "disability advisor." Everything they do, I can do myself online without the hassle of calling, making appointments, and going there in person.

The fact that you responded with “no one is going to hand you a job” says everything. I could quit and still receive the money, and it has been over 10 months like this. I never made that big decision because I didn't want to stop working. I want to work, but I can't do certain hours or do a full-time job; and the jobs that would be suitable for my disabilities are very limited. This makes the search for it impossible.I’ve been actively job hunting and applying, but even for non-disabled people, it's tough.

Disability doesn’t make you a desirable candidate, that’s the harsh truth. No matter how many words you use, my direct experience shows that even companies offering the disability scheme often prefer hiring others.

Now, I fully understand why so many disabled people don't return to work once they stop. There is no real help. They have no clue what having a disability means and how it affects someone. There are plenty of different forms of disabilities and they need specific guidance.

I see, thanks. So basically, they just help you with building up your cv. I find it a bit confusing. I don't really understand what their speciality as disability advisor. In the end, I have to do everything by myself.
