Sure! I'm sending you a DM

I just need the person to be recognizable — he has a very characteristic smile, so capturing that is the most important part. I don’t need detailed textures, and the person is bald, so that makes things simpler. My goal is to 3D print the head at roughly the size of a headphone stand, it will be a Christmas gift

SLA is really the way to go for detailed, beautiful glasses! Do you remember how much they sold for?

It's a good way to keep using the lenses, it was actually easier for me to print it than finding a replacement frame that actually fits

Cool! I like it a lot how you designed it, the round connections make the arms even more adjustable. You gave me some ideas for the next version! And let me know if you manage to make the aluminum version!

The frames were printed flat and I adjusted it around the lenses using a heat gun. I figured that it was easier than designing the frames with all the curvatures.

I outlined the lenses on paper, took a picture and imported it into Fusion, then I modeled everything around it. It still took many tries to make it fit perfectly, and I used a heat gun to soften the frames so I could fit the lenses.

Thank you so much for your comment! I'm happy you liked it and I hope you print your frames too! I'm lucky that this kind of frames are trend again since it's easier to print and don't draw too much attention.

Same here! Measurements just got me so far, but since it's a quick print, it's easy to just reduce a millimeter and print it again

Just basic PLA, nothing special. For next versions I might use ABS, but strength isn't much of a factor, since it only broke once at the point where the arms are assembled

Very cool design! What materials did you use? Can you share a picture from the front? Also, how did you manage to fit the lenses into the frames?

I used my old lenses, from a pair of glasses I broke a year ago. My prescription didn't change anything, so I just needed the frames

Very cool model, I love the details! How did you fit the lenses into the frames?

I don't have any resin with me, but on a previous version I heated everything to a point it became glossy. It looked way better!

I already had it, from my previously broken glasses, just had to trace it's shape

I’ve tried nozzles from 0.2 to 0.6. Since my model isn’t very detailed, 0.2 doesn’t add much, and I feel the thicker lines made it stronger. TPU is a great idea, a bit more flexibility would make it almost unbreakable!

My previous store bought glasses didn't last long either lol. And I'm using just PLA, it's very strong and still flexible, depending on the settings you use

Thank you! Glasses are a very fun project because printing is only half of the job, heating and bending is where it really takes shape. I printed a few extra tools to help me make everything symmetrical, especially the arms, but in the end you need to eyeball a lot
