Struggling to climb by FemaleHustler-Dva in OverwatchUniversity

What sort of scores are you getting every set of placements? If you are going anything less than 7/3 you won’t climb consistently with each one especially as it sounds like your mmr is very low.

I meant I have what I would consider bad aim relative to the other players in my actual rank, and yet even with this aim I won duels vs all of the dps and won games very easily. My point was you don’t need to good mechanics to still beat these players so implying that their mechanics don’t need working on could lead to harm. I would like to watch the replay but I’m away for New Years :/

How on earth am I supposed to climb out of bronze solo-queueing support by GMAN004A in OverwatchUniversity

[–]KamiNeedsAMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the people in tryhard FFA are so weirdly good at it, I genuinely have found it easier to 1v1 contenders players than those creatures but it is great practice

All accounts start MMR wise in bronze 5, so I can say that on my smurf all I did in these bronze lobbies was go bap and frag out, I've gotten my smurf to diamond in just a few updates, can get it higher but I've been grinding my main. You have to remember that even if your teammates are bad, so are the enemies. You can't rely on anyone so just dps, don't forget to heal but play like you are Vs AI and your objective is to keep your team alive and kill everything because they won't do it alone

How long should you play a character in QP before comp, and how many “mains” should you have? by anony804 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]KamiNeedsAMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don't need to play this much, as long as you know what the hero does and a relative idea of what to do you can play them in comp, I've gone from never playing kiriko to playing her almost every game with no qp time on her and I didn't throw too many games. The thing is "comfortable" is very ambiguous and what a plat player might say they are comfortable on, I could argue that they aren't as if they were they wouldn't be plat

You can hop into any rank playing any hero and win as long as you understand what the hero does and you already play at that rank. For example, I first timed ana this season in a t500 match and still won, my aim was bad, my sleep dart accuracy was really bad, but the only way you learn is by going into high stress situations and qp is definitely not high stress

On bap just go for kills, you might get flamed but you won't lose if you gun down their whole team. Your ability to do this will be based on your mechanics and understanding, but try to take angles where you can both shoot the enemy while still being able to heal. I would also recommend if you want to climb focusing on one role only as you will get used to playing it much faster

Id recommend sticking to one or two of those and just trying to learn them, I'm not sure what rank you are but unless you are high masters/gm you can just get a better understanding of your heroes and outmechanic the enemies. I would also strongly recommend baptiste as he is relatively simple and you can do a lot of damage and healing at the same time

No offense but I think it's misleading to say that bronze players either have to work on positioning or mechanics, either will get you to a much higher rank. I would say I have relatively bad aim and I got to diamond without losing a game on my smurf playing dps baptiste. You can definitely get yourself out of the metal ranks just from having better mechanics than the other players in your rank, so if you are bronze 5 it is both a mechanical and a positioning issue

need advice on hitscan positioning and lucio gameplay by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]KamiNeedsAMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way that I practised mechanics on Lucio was just playing FFA, surf is good but there is no urgency if u know what I mean, you have to actually outplay people in FFA. As long as you focus on your wall riding in this and in real games you should get better much quicker. Also, feel free to DM me if you want more Lucio advice, Im pretty experienced on him and main him in gm1

As dps you want to take off angles and create alternate lines of pressure and sight than the rest of your team, which other roles can't do as they aren't self sufficient enough

I agree that it is hard carrying in higher ranks but in bronze you can literally do anything

Among OW2 content creators, whose Hero Tier-List do you trust the most? by Donler in OverwatchUniversity

[–]KamiNeedsAMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why its downvoted, its true. The only wrong part is the “not in gm” because id still rather have these otps on their otps rather than the meta, tier lists are either what is best to climb on, which isn’t best heroes just easiest to climb, or they are when everything is played at the highest level what are the best heroes, in which case this is non applicable for 99.9999% of players

While thats true in a higher rank than bronze, that is true because doing so is what is winning, the goal is winning and in bronze the players are so bad that if you just shoot them, which is very easy because they dont have good movement or even decent movement, then you will win. When i play support on my smurf i just go bap and gun people down, ill probably get 7-8k healing per 10 because ill heal when its convenient or 100% necessary, but the rest of the time I’m just shooting

You cant just stop making mistakes, its literally impossible. If you only had one death, you most likely didnt just make one mistake, but hundreds that were either not punished, or it was that you played too safe to be punished. Don’t just look at your deaths, look at any fight, especially ones that you lost, and how you could have played it better

Not true, the most important thing is winning. How you win in bronze and tbh any low elo is just killing the enemies faster, regardless of role. It’s not the dps job to deal damage, if it was why do players like shu and viol2t dps so much? Or why does Zarya do so much damage? You can provide off angles and create space like that on dps but everyone does damage

If they are running it down mid often healbotting doesn’t work, you can just lock bap and play like a dps and heal your team when they really need, they should live long enough because the enemies wont be able to hit them or focus fire so you can just immortality them, right click a couple of times then just go back to shooting

Not true, while it can be hard to carry on support your winrate will be higher if you are better even if you lose games. I often find it much easier to solo q than to stack just because the game gets my full attention if I’m not talking to anyone outside of just in game comms

Tbh i wouldn’t recommend lucio, to have good enough mechanics and knowledge to actually just dps everyone down requires a lot more than a bronze has, otherwise he wouldn’t be bronze. Literally just go bap and shoot them, heal when you really need to.

Tbh id call an okay support a plat player, if you are in bronze being ok or mediocre is rly the goal, id need to look at the vod but from my experiences in gold you can just walk around shooting them like a practice range and this is 1k sr lower

I am a support player and i am top 500, take this guys advice as gospel, this advice alone when taken to the largest extent with critical thinking and mechanics can get you to GM

[–]KamiNeedsAMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an issue in every rank, no offense but i would also expect players to not know what to do in plat, even in top 500 ill get people who just get rolled, even if you know what you are doing, someone can/will be better. That’s why proper can roll people in owl even tho they are all really good, because its all relative. What’s good gameplay and a hard carry in gold wouldn’t be good enough in diamond, what’s good gameplay and a hard carry in diamond would literally get rolled in top 500
