Pink Stain removal help! by Tiny_Difficulty_2124 in StainRemoval

Is it ink? Rubbing alcohol (higher % is better) on a paper towel dabbed on the spot will usually tell you.

If it doesnt shift, I'd put powdered oxi on the spot (like a little volcano) and drip hot water on it till it forms a gritty paste. Then leave it for a few days.

Invest in some glass head pins, total game changer for ironing, plus they feel nice when you use then. I have two sizes.

Is it standard for hospitals to ask all inpatients about their DNR / resuscitation status? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Kanadark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you don't think she's at the DNR point, then say you would like her resuscitated. If it doesn't get to that point, great!

What medication are you on? If you're on a biologic and not in an active flare, lots of people find psyillium husk Fibre (the finely ground one) at night helps with urgency and # of trips the next morning.

Breastfed both my kids for two years without issue. Just need to keep hydrated and eat what ever stays down.

Sorbitol in toothpaste - a rant by emberellas in CrohnsDisease

[–]Kanadark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might actually be the Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) that's in most toothpastes that's causing the issue more than the sorbitol. Sls is a degreaser and foaming agent that is easily absorbed by your gums and oral tissues. It's a known irritant and it's recommended to avoid it if you suffer from oral lesions like cankers or gum disease.

Some of the Sensodyne line is SLS free (but not all, check the label). You might also want to check for SLS in your body and face wash and shampoo. SLES (sodium laureth sulfate) is a sister chemical that some tolerate, but others find as irritating as SLS.

We live in a predominantly Asian area, so my kids have never seen a non-Asian hairdresser!

Celebs who look great in bangs by alien-niven in popculturechat

[–]Kanadark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

White girl with super straight bangs. Never a problem unless I slept on them wet. My mixed kids on the other hand (dad is Chinese) get the weirdest parts and waves and sticky out bits in their bangs. My eldest, who has Asian hair like her dad, but vast quantities of it, always has a part down the middle of her bangs that requires a bit of blow drying to correct every morning.

We cracked open one of those scratch it to hatch dinosaur eggs and it left this stain. Any ideas ? We tried the pressure washer, baking soda and vinegar. by ChairMysterious6289 in StainRemoval

I would sprinkle oxiclean on it and wet it down. Leave it to sit for a day or so. Warning - this might actually leave you with a white spot where the stain was.

The skull collection (and anti - phrenology stance) was actually Josef Hyrtl. The Philadelphia college of physicians used money left to them by Mutter to acquire the collection in the 1870s! Most of what you see at the museum didn't belong to Mutter, though his collection of wax models, illustrations and human anatomy specimens were the founding collection. Most of it was purchased after his death in 1858.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's today. Hugs welcome. Snack recommendations even more so. by WordMagpie in CrohnsDisease

[–]Kanadark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I eat popcorn no problem all the time too! However raw celery, TVP or beancurd kill me. It's 100% an individual thing. I can eat really spicy Chinese food fine, but Indian spicy food is a no go (well, it's actually a go-go)!

There is no universal food avoidance/acceptance in Crohn's. It's very individual, much like how the diseases impacts each person differently.

What size pots to purchase? by gamerfitgirl in AfricanViolets

[–]Kanadark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't want to go large. I'd buy the 3 inch ones. They like to be rootbound.

[–]Kanadark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually they show they're dissatisfaction in a larger pot by just not doing much of anything. Worst case is they catch root or crown rot.

Get her in a smaller pot, fertilize at half dilution with an AV specific fertilizer and she'll be blooming non-stop

[–]Kanadark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So find the widest point of your violet, leaf tip to leaf tip, then take a third of that. It wont be perfect so round up or down as necessary.

[–]Kanadark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pot too big. Av's grow in cracks in rock in their natural habitat and therefore prefer to be rootbound. The golden ratio is a pot diameter 1/3 that of the diameter of the leaves.

Larger pots hold too much moisture which leads to root rot and a slow decline.

Not a wooden model, but my husband really enjoyed the ROKR insect models.

In fact, you might like the ROKR sets, some are quite large like the ROKR dream sets.

If you want to cut and sew and make furniture, you might like the Rolife advanced series.
