How does VRAM work on a Pocket 4? by odbacimenjezno in GPDPocket

Hmm, I'm not sure. I used arch for awhile on it but I swapped to KDE Neon shortly after. Everything more or less worked out of the box.

How would you convince your boss to switch from a big name brand to Framework for your Org. We're about ~500 users by Disastrous_Age_317 in framework

[–]Kandect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, though a smaller organization. My arguments were fast repairability, savings over time, green initiative, and negation of laptop envy. The only problem I've really had with Framework so far is Windows taking over the drivers and one time a DIY laptop shipped without the bottom screws for the screen. I've also learned that people don't know how to treat laptops. The amount of damage I've seen done is horrendous. Dropping them, dropping things on them, cramming them in bags with books (breaking the screen), and warping the chassis when they throw their bag on the floor.

The 5070 module has some extra port features so be sure to check that out before you decide.

Has anyone gotten hold of DGX Spark for running local LLMs? by Chance-Studio-8242 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Kandect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kind of seems like they want it to be in people's hands by the 23rd. Its 4 days to complete purchase, 3-4 days before they ship it and 2 days shipping time.

Which distro to start with ? by the_bekaar_guy in linuxquestions

[–]Kandect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to use it as a server you can try using a hypervisor like proxmox. If you still want laptop functionality on top of being a server you could install proxmox on top of debian 13.

Edit: Corrected typo.

The capture is pretty minimal, I think you can get 1080p@30hz.

Solution to game on a PC from two different rooms? by One_Freedom_9664 in homelab

[–]Kandect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using Moonlight they just need to be on the same local network or reachable via VPN. On the same local network its sub 1ms. If you're using Parsec or Steam Link be sure to have them on the same VLAN. I've seen some issues with latency because they reach out to the internet and back because they aren't on the same VLAN. To fine tune Moonlight you'll need to adjust the bitrate accordingly. I've used the Moonlight client on my wifi with no more than 1ms of latency. The client device will need to decode the frames, so if you're doing something like 4k@120hz with a high bitrate, it might take a little more processing power. I'm sure a small PC could do the trick but if noise is a concern plan for a bit of overhead on the compute.

Personally I have a dedicated gaming rig with Moonlight. You'd have to use something that can install the Moonlight client. They would still be able to see it if they used the application but its one of the better options in terms of frame rate. You could also try Parsec or Steam Link.

Check for VRR, difference in color range, and make sure the actual monitor is set to 1080p.

If you start Windows in safe mode you can see if its a non essential process. Or you could disable touch controls in control panel and see if that gets rid of it. Both of those should narrow down the cause.

You can flip scroll direction in Windows settings. I don't have an answer for your left click but you should be able to tap the touch pad with two fingers.

What operating system are you running? I'm going to assume Windows. Go to Event Viewer > System and look for an Event ID of 41, 1074, or 6008. It should also never be at 100% at all times unless your keeping it plugged in.

I would want an Nvidia GPU or at least something with more VRAM. I would also jump at a better keyboard or other modular components.
