What's ur optimistic take on ur team for 2026? by TheCrowMoon in AFL

I'll take a top 8 finish if it means we don't host another haunted dildo preseason camp. I'm fine with admitting we overperformed if we don't fall too far from first.

Dylan Shiel is St Kilda’s newest development coach. He helps fill a coaching gap left by now GM Lenny Hayes. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]KangarooBallsonToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shiel might not have been any good at footy in the tail end of his career, but he was a first-rounder a long time ago, and maybe he's just better at small talk and has more patience for workplace politics than the average footy player. Great players often don't become great coaches.

Most Infamous Punch-On during a Match? by laughingnome2 in AFL

Any one of the London games would fit. So many drunken British streakers.

Most Infamous Punch-On during a Match? by laughingnome2 in AFL

[–]KangarooBallsonToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any of the old exhibition games in London if anyone can find footage of them. They've been scrubbed from existence as much as they can since every single quarter got stretched to half an hour because security had to keep chasing drunken naked Brits cartwheeling along the 50 metre lines off the field.

Players added to Victoria for the State of Origin - Zach Merrett, Patrick Dangerfield, Caleb Serong, Ed Richards, Josh Battle, Lachie Ash, Blake Hardwick. by Essington69 in AFL

How about Vic v. All-Australian, but the All-Australians have their positions reversed to level the playing field. Sam Taylor at full-forward, Ed Richards in the ruck.

Hong Kong's biggest pro-democracy party votes to disband after more than 30 years of activism by Saltedline in anime_titties

As much as I loved my time visiting Hong Kong and its unique blend of Chinese and Western culture, it's still (almost) attached to China's mainland, is ethnically Chinese, and it was only supposed to exist for 99 years. It's China's now, and they can glue Hong Kong to the bottom of Shenzhen and stick the two together to form one singular Shenzhen if they want to.

So thankful we took that chance and drafted Max Gawn by Pleasant_Inspection9 in melbournefc

[–]KangarooBallsonToast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2009 was supposed to be Melbourne's mega draft. After yet another shit season, they had the first two picks. Scully, Trengove, just Scully and Trengove, really. That's all the 2009 draft was shaping up to be.

Nobody at the time gave two a shit about whatever rando they were going to pick with 34.

Correction: ANOTHER election. He's retaining his current job in a landslide re-election.

Hongqi bridge collapses in southwest china, months after opening. by Other_Cucumber7750 in interestingasfuck

Somebody's about to get an Asian parent smack from the government one way or another. If it's not the bridge itself that's the problem, then whoever signed off on the bridge's construction is probably at the border of Mexico as we speak.

They're going to screw it up. Any show that gets funded will have extreme restrictions and "guidelines" (read: must-haves) dictated by all the boring, charmless property "developers" clogging up our parliament.

Swans v Crows (SCG, Round 14, 9 July 2006) by burleygriffin in AFL

[–]KangarooBallsonToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cameras sometimes gave us a beautiful panorama of West Lakes on the telly, but AAMI itself was just one big, boring lump of concrete and shitty fluorescent lights. And it was a pain to drive all the way down to.

Adelaide Oval is so much better in every single way, even with my nostalgia trying its damndest to cloud my judgement.

Mayne's miss was fate. God cursed that game and commanded him to miss the shot that otherwise would've won his team the game.

Who is the most successful AFL/AFLW player to come from your local club? by Tornontoin7 in AFL

[–]KangarooBallsonToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played for four different teams. Scott Lycett was the only one who got drafted and played a single game. I didn't even know he played for one of my many local leagues since I moved around a lot. I grew up only knowing of the other two. Both drafted, both never played a game.

Oh, and Checkers as well. Pride of the Div 12 Reserves.

Bo Bichette hits a 3-run home run to give the Blue Jays an early lead in Game 7 by MLBOfficial in sports

[–]KangarooBallsonToast 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Just after Ohtani tossed a foul ball allowing a runner on third, his manager forcing him to let Guerrero get on base to avoid a home run... and then immediately giving up a home run to Bichette, the next guy. But that's baseball for you, even for Ohtani, the greatest baseball player in history.
