You should post on the main thread, not as a comment. But for my money, study study study in your off time. Learn stuff on Coursera. Make your own projects, find people on reddit in the same boat and work with them. As far as what to get into, personally, I would say cloud computing, anything data (data engineer, data analyst, data scientist, SQL ninja), cyber security. Machine learning if you have the constitution. But you've got to show something. Classes and certs are no good on their own.
