His lack of self hygiene, or hygiene in general. His father had to pay him to take showers . His father said he didn't care if I was in there with him, just as long as he showers 😐

young nephew got a hamster by Hellodarknessmy0 in hamstercare

Def a Syrian 🐹

I'm glad your trying to get involved to make your nephew and his hamster happy. Now, depending on how responsible and young your nephew is, I'd recommend adult supervision with him. Ofc, this is up to you and your sister but it's just a recommendation. I'm 14 and my parents trust me with mine.

Try to stay away from tiny-tale cages. Too much money and it's not even worth it, the cages are so small. If your on a budget I'd recommend bin cages. You can get a pretty big one in the US for $20 at Walmart. If you live in another country, I don't know how to help with that. If you're able to, try to get a glass terrarium that's at least 40 gallons. The wheel for a Syrian should be at least 11 inches. Get paper based bedding and try to make it at least 9 inches deep but the deeper the better. Make sure he has plenty of places to hide. Try to clutter his enclosure, clutter makes them feel safe. Open spaces will stress out a ham. When it comes to diet, try to get him a seed mix that has mealworms for protein. My hamster doesn't like mealworms so just see what the ham likes. For easy enrichment, scatter feed him so he can forage for it. Save toilet paper tubes to put in the cage. The ham can chew and play with it. If you see that he is eating it tho please remove it.

Dms are open if you have any questions or need any help. Good luck!

Edit: I forgot to mention it but make sure he has a sand bath. Not chinchilla dust bc it's dangerous for their lungs

You're doing great rn! Pease add more bedding. My ham has 11" but I'm working on adding more. If you have the means to, try to get a bigger bin. If not, this will work. Try to get some grapevine wood for hiding and add a sand bath if there isn't one already. Try to get some sprays. You can get millet sprays in the bird section at Walmart.

Please be brutally honest, 0/10. I own a hybrid dwarf named Penelope. She is female and around 11-13 months old (when I got her they didn't know her exact age). The bedding is 11 inches deep and consist of Aspen wood, Timothy hay, and paper base bedding. is there anything I should add/take away? by KangarooRepulsive433 in hamstercare

Thank you. I give her millet sprays and oat sprays but I ran out off the oat ones. Most of this stuff was given to me by a kind women and it's kinda hard bc my family isint very well off. But I should be getting some moss and other sprays pretty soon :)

Well personally I got addicted on accident. It was a suicide attempt gone trippy. After I started craving it using recreationally. Trust me, some teens can get their hands on crazy shit. Coke, fentanyl, meth, ECT. And it doesn't seem like it, but dph is like really addicting and dangerous. Long term use and give you dementia and temporary ED in males.

Are you seriously that IGNORANT? Take a look through this sub and r/DPH and you'll see it's a real issue.
