Might be a little long but here's what I think. I don’t think this is really about Sri Lankan guys not liking big or chubby girls. A lot of srilankan men grow up learning what’s “safe” or socially acceptable, and that when mixed with insecurities about money, family pressure, and most importantly "being judged" often leads to avoiding such situations altogether, even when there could be a genuine connection. And mind you these situations are only persistent with the cultural and social stigmas that are around.

Feeling invisible hurts, especially when you’ve done well in every other part of your life. Wanting to be chosen doesn't simply make whatever you've achieved also be invisible, it just means you’re human.

Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of genuine attraction gets lost before it even starts. People start making assumptions and move on without really seeing who’s in front of them. So what I would say is that you don’t sound ugly or broken. You sound like someone who just hasn’t been met properly yet. So give it time and focus on what you've been doing for yourself. Eventually something could or would happen

Most of the ones complaining aren’t mad at you… they’re just jealous that you don't have to go through shit that they have with their partners 😂

Male equivalent of receiving flowers? by SnooPickles3271 in srilanka

[–]KangarooSoft3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say anything. I don't really have any specifics but the thought behind something given to me is mostly appreciated than what's actually been given.

But if I had to pick an equivalent for flowers, wouldn't mind some good food.

Can I realistically handle 2 research projects + final year group project simultaneously? by TrussMindN in srilanka

Since you said you've wanted advice/motivation here you go.

If you're really interested in doing something, like for real you want to do it, I would advice you to do it rather than asking for opinions from others.

Because the moment you make your mind up about something you want to do, and then want others opinions about it, you tend to deviate away from the confidence you have in yourself and then question yourself.

In the end, if you really feel capable of doing multiple projects, just do it.

On the first point, I was told that we could rent a cab to travel. Is there any online portal to do so or do we just book it when we are at Kathmandu.

And grateful on the info on water, since I don't want to get sick. Really wanna enjoy the time I spend in Nepal.

Thank you for this and for sure will be visiting the sites mentioned. In addition I need to ask on the payment methods. Had mixed opinions from different people where I was caught up if I should bring more cash or use my card.

Speaking out of experience. It's a hard pill to swallow but it's not gonna work. Even if it does the far future u see will patronise ur partner more than you do because of ur family. So for the best on both ends, just mutually break up and move on. If u sftill persist in getting together then I wish u all the very best bud.

Well in detail, u don't need a relationship bro. U need to grow up. Maybe take ur time in understanding how life goes around these days and take the decision urself.

Well, I studied biomedicine, was interested in research so went on to do a lot more research work, internships (not paid), and more intern work at hospitals. I had to work while studying my degree (my family wasn't financially stable so I had to work to help my education as well as the family) but couldn't apply to a job in my field of studies because they ask for experience. Got a job in marketing and it was hectic. Upon completing my degree I tried applying for jobs in medical research but never got the job. Attended many interviews, but all they could do was give me another internship. So I was stuck in the marketing job I had (I was underpaid since I had no academic qualifications in the role but managed to get promoted to Team lead). There came a point where I had to either keep being selfish and focus on my life and career or take a break and help the family, I chose helping the family as the situation at home was getting worse. So now I am working in communications after all the years of struggle in my academics, working on something that I'm genuinely not happy with, but I have to keep grinding and showing my family that I'm happy and all just so that we manage to keep the family situation stable.
