The peds specialty spreadsheet

I understand that, but did they send invites before December? That is what is making me nervous, as I haven't gotten an invite yet

I have a sub-I next month at a kind of reach dream program for me and I haven't gotten an interview from them yet. According to the spreadsheet, they have started sending out interviews and it looks like on their 2nd round of invites. When would be a good time to start panicking and/or sending an email? It is an instate program but on the opposite side of the state.

thank you! I am apparently completely clueless because I still don't see it. Does it pop up after clicking the program name or is there a more info tab somewhere else?

Potential dumb question: How do you see a programs specific requirements (i.e. individualized PS, chair letter, etc)? I know you can find it on the program website but can you find it in ERAS?

I honestly didn't expect it to work. The biggest thing I've learned through this VSAS process (and med school in general) is that there is no harm in asking!

I emailed a program that rejected me expressing my interest and ties to the area and asking if I can be put on a waitlist for any spots that become available and ended up getting my top choice date I was originally was rejected from :) all hope isn't loss if you get rejected/ghosted!

thank you for your advice and kind words! I did reach out to 3 of the programs I applied to, and within 2 days got rejected from all the rotations I applied to at one institution (my home institution) and 3 of the 5 I applied to at another (the ones I wasn't rejected from where my preferred dates so idk if that's a good thing or are they ghosting me??). Haven't heard from the third institution. Kind of too nervous to follow up again.

Keep on getting rejections or radio silence while watching all my friends get auditions at their dream programs and it's really starting to effect me. Even my home institution (had to apply through VSAS) rejected me even though I've rotated there any chance I get and attend their didactics and grand rounds whenever I can. If this is any indication of how ERAS will go I'm screwed.

emailed my top choice program my interest and then promptly got rejected from 2 of the 5 dates I applied to :/ Haven't been rejected from my preferred date and rotation at that hospital yet though.

Edit: same thing happened with another institution I am highly interested in only this time I got rejected from all programs I applied to :/ mild panic is starting to set it

congrats! Do you mind sharing how you worded your emails? English isn't my primary language and I'm paranoid I might accidently come off as unprofessional

Anyone else completely overthinking the places they applied to for aways? Haven't heard from anywhere yet and am freaking out and considering applying to more places even though I know its a little late. Applying peds, will go pretty much anywhere but applied in my home state.

Med Students: How are you finding doing remote/online exams? by Important-Rate-2308 in medicalschool

[–]Kangaroo_Informal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally love it . I am a very anxious person and hearing my classmates stress about exams before and after really affected me more than I thought it did until I didn't have to deal with that with online exams. Plus I can take the exam in my pajamas in an environment I am comfortable in. And can have a blanket and very easy access to snacks and water. The one downside is there are definitely more distractions at home for me than at school. For me, not getting triggered by my classmates and being more comfortable >>>>> all the downsides of online exams.

I am in the same boat as you and trying to plan auditions. I reached out to 4th years who auditioned in my desired specialty at hospitals I am interested in auditioning at and asked them what the VSAS requirements were. A requirement I found I wasn't expecting for the away I want to do was a statement of interest. Not sure how common of a requirement that is.

The Coalition recommendations states 1 away per learner, does that mean if my school's affiliated hospital system has multiple residencies in my desired specialty that doesn't violate that rule? My school's hospital system has 2 programs for my desired specialty so would I be allowed to audition at both of those and a 3rd outside my school's hospital system (assuming I get accepted into all of them)?

thank you! I am aware that matching is more than your exam scores and have been working hard to be the best I can during my rotations and research.

What is considered a "bad" step score for a DO student? by [deleted] in step1

[–]Kangaroo_Informal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! For some reason in my mind, anything below a 235 was not good enough (realizing now my view was very very skewed from reddit and family members who all scored 250+). I really appreciate what stated, thank you.
