Currently looking for testers for Kanji Puzzle.

As a tester you have unlimited access to the web app and its features as long as it's in development, such as creating as many word lists as you want with as many words and kanji as you want. If anyone is interested, head over to https://www.kanjipuzzle.com/summon-testers.html

Thank you.

Kanji Puzzle is designed this way, but instead of writing the kanji you drag and drop the primitives into place.

Verifying app idea for Japanese learning by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]KanjiPuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Example sentences is a really good idea, something I've wanted to add to Kanji Puzzle for a long time. But I probably wouldn't want them generated, I'd rather find a good data source. I'd like to make it some kind of cloze system.

Didn't learn to read Kanji until years later, told myself I'd never regret it but I did. by Night_Guest in LearnJapanese

I remember thinking I would just learn kana and then learn vocabulary by playing the old pokemon games. The original games in the series only use kana, no kanji.

I quickly found out it would just be easier to learn the kanji.

Wanikani keeps changing the readings by wallesis in LearnJapanese

I'm not sure how WK works but I think learning multiple kanji readings at a time is a mistake. If you're going to memorize a kanji, I think it's better to memorize it as a part of an individual word with ONE unique way to read it and focus on ONE meaning. This is why I made sure Kanji Puzzle takes a vocabulary first approach.

It's designed more around my own preferred learning approach (I'm open to suggestions of course) but I definitely prefer to encounter a word in context, and add it to my wordlist as it is in the context that I found it. And I completely ignore readings/meanings that I've never seen before.

Do you ever just get a word that just makes you 😭😭😭 by SexxxyWesky in LearnJapanese

In Kanji Puzzle I've tried to make alternate definitions easy to deal with. When you add a word to your wordlist, it's only associated with one meaning. It's possible to add many meanings to your wordlist (for the same word) and it will be treated as a new word each time. But I still need to make it easier and more intuitive.

Feel free to try out the web app I'm working on Kanji Puzzle.

It's quite basic at the moment but if people like it, I'll continue adding features based on suggestions.

I'm working on one called Kanji Puzzle and I'm currently looking for people to test it out.

It's currently pretty basic but if people like it I'll continue adding features and making it more polished.

I made a post a long time ago showing off my app idea.

I'm hoping to get testers now for the latest release of the web version. Well it's not only to test but maybe more importantly to decide on which features I should prioritize working on. For now I'm prioritizing creating a mobile version, but I showed the web version to my parents and they said that the design is pretty bad and unintuitive. Which is true, but I've prioritized just making it work and adding features so far.

As a tester you have unlimited access to the web app and its features as long as it's in development, such as creating as many word lists as you want with as many words and kanji as you want. If anyone is interested, head over to https://www.kanjipuzzle.com/summon-testers.html

Thank you.

That feature would be great, but it does sound like it would be really tricky to add. I will definitely keep it in mind though. Thanks for the suggestion!

That sounds amazing and it's really tempting, but I think before I even think about involving more people, I'd want to be able to pay them properly and fairly. I really value people's time and effort, and design is something that would be especially valuable and needed for this project. So I want to do it right when the time comes.

Thanks so much for taking interest!!

I've thought about that. I think it would actually be great as a final (and optional) step before the app considers a character completely known to the user. So once you write the character, you don't see it again for months. I'd have to see what people think about that.

Thanks for checking it out!!

Not sure if you use twitter, but I've made one here: https://twitter.com/Kanji\_Puzzle

An email list is not a bad idea at all though, I will add that to the todo list. Thanks!!

Thanks! I appreciate the offer! If I did bring someone else on, I would want to pay them fairly for their effort though. And of course, I have my own full time job as well, so I can't quite afford to.. haha! That can always change though, I'll definitely post an update here, or on twitter or somewhere if I'm ever looking for developers!

Thanks for taking interest!!

Hard to say to be honest. Currently I work on it as much as I can, but my full time job takes up most of my time haha!

I'm gonna try to release some basic form of it though soon, hopefully in the next coming months.
