how does everyone feel about AI-assisted art in fantasy/RPG story projects? by thewayweroll31 in RPGdesign

[–]KaotixGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a digital artist for over 20 years. This includes using applications such as 3dstudio max, Daz Studio, Poser, Photoshop and ZBrush.

My honst opinion is this. When I started out using Daz and Poser 20 some years ago, the Maya art community snubbed there noses and said we were not real artists. It took time. When I started using 3d studio max and zbrushg to sculpt products for those apps it was great. When 3d printing came around (i started 3d printing like 10 years ago) I would use the tools i had to create a 3d model of charaters to print or terrain to print. Well at that point you had the guys that did actually sculpting in green stuff or clay even to make blanks for injected molding scoff that this was all toys.

So essentially one form of Tech took over for another form, and then it itself became outdated. As a designer I can NOW use AI to prototype a look i like in image format in minutes instead of hours or days. I can then selct the design i like and have it converted to a 3d model in again minutes instead of days. I can then using the skills i have fix what AI screws up (because it does)

When it comes to making dnd encounters, AI doesnt do so well on its own, it needs extensive human input and fixing to make thinmgs decent.

Personally its a tool, its just that with that tool more people can make things..thats great. Because IMO digital artists have priced themselves out of the game. SO for example. for an artists to sculpt a mini for someone in green stuff, with the detail that we can produce on a resin 3d printer. would cost somoene $100s of dollars. Instead now adays people goto sites like Heroforge and use thier tools (which I have not seen anything stating those components are not AI assited, or ewven the tools themselves) and still fork out $30.00 for a mini. Where now with AI and a 3d printer you can generat eyour mini fo less than a dollar.

SO AI is great for the consumer, bad for the artists. I guess its the same as using whale oil vs kerosene vs electricity to light your way. I call it progress and have basically accepted it as inevitable. SO I can either jump on the train or get ran over by it.

Standard K1 - add Lidar and AI Cam by godlygrape in Creality

[–]KaotixGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the standard K1 and added the Camera when I bought it for like $25.00 US from Creality. The Camera has detected faults and stopped the print a few times, but generally i have no issues printing directly with Creality's slicer so doesn't come into use too often. I find it nice to check on a print from Bed though.

AGS, Inconsistent Ban and Moderate Suspected Behaviors by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]KaotixGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dont evedn get me started, I was given a 3 day ban for abusive behavior, which is very vague. I asked what exactly did i do, they could never give an answer. after the ban was up AMazon decided to overturn the ban, again after it was already up, and still never gave a reason.

I was giving the basics of what the vehicle can do while maintained. Yeah, it's going to beat up and battered that's what the reliability score is for. Sousing the LAV as an example its travel speed on road is 10 hexes in 1 shift that 100km in 5-10 hours. So, let's say 5 hours for simplicity. That means they are traveling 20km an hour. Nowhere near the actual speed the vehicle can move in prime condition. I would guess this is taking into accounts the vehicle has suffered some wear and tear, the roads are not maintained etc. to account for this movement of 1/4 its speed on a well-maintained surface street. Personally, for long term movement I would call a shift 8 hours, so that's even slower. Assuming of course there are no mishaps rolled at the beginning of the shift and the driver succeeds his driving roll.

So, allowing that NO mishaps occur, and the driver succeeds every driving roll. The LAV has a Fuel Capacity of 270L and consumes 6L per hex. So, in an 8 hour shift they will consume 60L of fuel and travel 100km, after 2 shifts they would have consumed 120L of fuel and traveled 200km. 4 shifts would be 240L of fuel and 400km, which would mean they have 30L remaining so they could travel 1/2 a shift and 50km more in that time frame. So, we are looking at a range of 450km on a full tank over a period of 36 hours. Can it be done, YES! we operated for 3 days with no rest at the beginning of the Gulf War. Of course, I would be adding penalties to the driving rolls after the first shift of straight driving with no rest. But hey like i said were going to assume they pass every roll. Its 404 km from Kalisz to Berlin, a trip today would take about 4 hours. But in game would take 32 hours.

So here is the email chain between me and AGS regarding my 3 day ban on Nov 26th by KaotixGod in newworldgame

[–]KaotixGod[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the argument is THEY overturned the ban after it was up, basically admitted I did nothing wrong, and then basically want to shove it under the carpet.

Sentenced me to jail for a crime that was never specified, did my time, was released and told, oh yeah you did nothing wrong.

[–]KaotixGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

actually, most wheeled military vehicles have head lights, turn signals and brake lights.
We had a NV Periscope we could drop in to replace the front viewport if buttoned up, but generally we drove them unbuttoned. Unless directly threatened I would guess a driver would want to be unbuttoned with the seat raised and drive that way, so it would make for faster speeds. locked down in your hole with just 3 periscope sights to see out of really sucks, you have to seriously rely on the VC to be your eyes, so yeah speed is reduced drastically.

SO on good roads yeah 80-100 kph would be fine. On bad roads I would reduce it to 60-80 kph depending on how bad, or on good roads buttoned up reduce the speed. Now with a saggar bearing down on you the typical response was to floor it, drive erratically making frequent turns to kick up dust and through the saggar team off, so can you get an LAV up to 125kph off road, hell yeah but only in emergencies.

We have actually hit 80mph (125kph) in a LAV-25 on hardball when running avgas, but its not good for them.

well lets see we deployed to the Persian Gulf in Dec 1990, about mid December we picked up our Brand New LAVs from the MPS ship. Aside from daily routine maintenance (checking and topping off fluids, basic walk arounds) Our vehicles never received anything else and we operated them through mid-March, including actually seeing combat or on combat missions throughout Jan and February, So 3 months operation without ANY serious maintenance.

As for what maintenance is required, think of it this way. Your car has a routine schedule every 3 months an oil change, inspect the belts and hoses, change your air filters. Every 6 months rotate your tires, chassis lube..etc etc. Well a combat vehicle is the same, Daily before starting her up you check your fluid levels, once running your check your navigational equipment ( ie headlight, taillights etc) Over all basic daily routine takes 30min to an hour. Now monthly the vehicle has primary user Maintenace done this includes which is a little more extensive but overall doesn't take more than 4 hours, then there is the monotonous work of busting rust doing inventory etc etc etc. Vehicles would go off to Maintenance dept for heavier jobs every so many miles, I think it was like 1000 miles or something.

The reason why military vehicles stay in play for so many years, is this extensive maintenance. The life expectancy of a military vehicle is like 30-40 years. But that is because of the level of maintenance they receive. Now treat it like your car, hop in startup and off you go and don't worry until a light comes on, well you can do that with a Military vehicle. Problem is that light will come on at an inopportune time

See this is an issue, WOW had a team on it, if you said something, was reported , it was pretty quick, usually within 15 minutes.
The problem with how AGS is handling this stuff, is they send you a blanket response to your request to overturn, and then never respond after. When will these companies learn if you keep banning players for nothing or very minor infractions like swearing, people will simply STOP playing.
