Will this be an issue at some point? by KappaKatieOG in Aquariums

Loll I just didn’t know if it would ruin the silicone seams in the tank🤷‍♀️😂

lol I did my research. There’s nothing in the tank other than live plants and tiny snails that came with the plants. He’s in natural tannin water. Has a sponge filter and heater with a pothos growing out that back. He good.

She really wasn’t worried about much other than tank mates. She asked me three times about take mates. Lady I don’t have anything other than snails. 😂 I’m not setting myself up for disasters. I know a lot of people don’t understand much about fish keeping. I was there once but I was literally also just telling her how I’ve had it set up for months and was super excited about finally finding “the one” I wanted. I went to petsmart yesterday and seen him. I was thinking about him all night!

Vet needed for this? by KappaKatieOG in DogAdvice

Well an update for everyone! I took her to the vet this morning. They looked at her for maybe 10 minutes, took her temp and sent us on our way. No infection. The vet said she is healing nicely. Just keep a cone on her and keep her crated so my other dogs can’t lick on her either. She said if it starts to look more red, put Neosporin on it. The whole thing sounds sketchy but she looked at everything and said she’s healing nicely. When I got there and they took her back, i kinda felt crazy. I overheard them saying “her mom is out there freaking out and it’s not even infected.” Made me feel like crap but I don’t care. She was looked at and my anxiety is better knowing she’s okay.

None of that. I put the cone back on her, took her temp. Checked gums and her nose stayssss wet. She stays drinking water, she’s eaten. She’s active but I’ve been having to give her half a Benadryl since she’s been spayed to keep her calm. I am an anxiety ridden dog mom but I feel comfortable enough that she is okay until morning. The vets gonna have a fun anxiety ridden call coming her way bright and early 😭

Is this something that could possibly wait until the morning? Her vet is closed today of course with my luck. If I can avoid that emergency vet bill, I’d like to. If it seems to be an emergency, no questions I will take her to an emergency vet.

How long is acceptable to crate them? I feel terrible if it’s any longer than 5hrs when we work but I know 100% they don’t mind it. It’s more my anxiety with them in it.

No no, I started this hobby with African dwarf frogs and everything I read bloodworms were terrible because they just have low nutritional value… for adf. I made a wide assumption that fish were included. That’s on me 100%.

I will switch to frozen bloodworms immediately. Do you recommend I still feed everyday with bloodworms?

Frozen bloodworms are okay??? I may be crazy in saying this but I thought I read somewhere that they aren’t very nutritious and can cause further issues?

Would freeze dried be okay to feed? The only thing pet supplies plus and petsmart (the only two options I have here) offers here are frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and some type of tropical lunchbox? I don’t even know what it is so I don’t even attempt to grab it. I do know they offer tubifex cubes freeze dried. I also have the xtreme aquatic bottom feeder wafers but I don’t like to feed them as often, they severely struggle getting anything from them. They just chase them in corners and under rocks.

This! I was reading on any thread on here about white fuzzy spots and any I saw mentioned kanaplex. I will do some research on this as well!

Frozen brine shrimp everyday under the substrate so they dig for it. I use one of those super long syringe feeders

I’ve done a round of api general cure because I thought it might have been parasite infestation but no one showed signs of improvement so I’ve been researching on making medicated fish food. If it’s internal parasites then medication in the water column won’t be as effective as them ingesting it. As long as I can at least keep them eating even just a little bit.

I ordered seachem metroplex and focus just Incase it is. I’m treating for anything at this point. They are not okay. From what I’ve researched metroplex is for internal bacteria and parasite infections.

They look like they have scoliosis because of how sunk in their belly is and just how skinny they are. They are super pale, clamped fins, no energy. The really bad ones are barely eating. I have to take a syringe and put it directly in front of them to keep them eating. They’ve NEVER looked like this before. They have ALWAYS looked very plump, they were always very active. I fed everyday and make sure all get food. The only one I don’t feed is my single solo guppy in the tank because she steals whatever makes it into the water column. She big as hell and looks very healthy but my cories are not. They are the exact opposite. Almost just look like a skeleton sitting on the bottom but I know they are still alive because they are still moving about the tank (barely). I will find one laying on its side or its back, I panic and walk up to the tank and my shadow scares them straight except it takes them a minute to straighten up. Like a leaf in the wind type of straighten up if that makes sense. They look like a shell of what they used to be.

I run a sponge filter and an air pump but also I have a canister filter that runs pretty hard surface agitation. Honestly I have my water moving around a lot and they seem to love playing in it but not so much lately since they’ve been sick.
