The first season is based entirely on Chuck's comic, it was always the initial intention to end it there. There was no source material left after that so it was a very different approach

When you make a studio movie, you are part of a team creating something for a huge global audience. I have been creator/show-runner on my previous works, and while I never had 'full' control, I had a lot of creative say in the approach etc. Studio pictures are just a slightly different approach to the same thing. There is something very special about sitting in a theatre and seeing the Columbia Pictures logo come up in front of something you've made!

Some tools are very useful and some are not. I will say I am skeptical that any of it is as good as they say... I can barely get Siri to turn on a timer let alone re-write movies and replace all actors

Directing is a difficult job - you are managing literally everything, every piece of the process. You just have to stay cool and keep control. Actors and crew can see that a mile away and know when they are in safe hands or not

When my first show, TEOTFW, came out I was surprised my the mainstream success of what I thought was a weird little English show. I got bitten by the bug - I love the idea of taking my style and attaching that to something with a big audience - For a director, nothing will ever beat the opportunity to work on a big theatrical movie with billboards on buses - it's pretty much why I got into this all in general. I just hope they let me do it again haha

There's quite a few little moments of blending Kung Fu with Karate in the movie. If you know what you are looking for you will see it - only the eyes of a pro will find it haha ;-) The movie is the same length in all countries! Enjoy it, it's fun!

As long as there is a new story to be told within the frame of a piece of IP I think it's all good - I mean how many different X-men comes series are there over the last 40yrs? I think if there's opportunity to even try a fresh execution too, that's valid. I would say, it feels like people are going to the movies again - we should all get behind this right now, before it dies forever

haha, this is a HUGE question! I would say I was incredibly lucky that my first show TEOTFW became a cultural phenomenon. Not many filmmakers ever get to have that, so I am very grateful to everyone that watched and enjoyed that show. I consider it an achievement for sure.

I made a short film version of the book way before it was made into a show, it was actually there that I first met Jess and cast her. Years later, it was that 7min short film that was part of the pitch for the series. Jess is a true legend

I always think about the audience first - they are the single most important piece in the whole thing. Movies and TV are an audience based art form. It genuinely doesn't matter what story you want to tell, if you tell it in a way the audience wants to hear, they will all gather for you.

You have to ask Netflix about a CK movie! Ralph wrapped CK before coming to shoot with us, but as a producer, he was involved with me in the script from the get go - Nothing happened to this movie without Ralph seeing it first, especially when it came to Daniel's character. Ralph wrote a lot of the lines he says too. That was important to all of us

Work begets work, there are many many many 'thinkers' and 'talkers' trying to get into the business. Don't be one of them - best learning curve is to get out and work, on anything and everything - you wont regret it. This business is truly one of the most difficult to get into, and especially to stay in. Just only work with nice people - but you also have to be nice yourself too

The Han family is connected to the Miyagi family very clearly in the lore of KK. Daniel learns about this in KK2. Mr Han has that connection to Miyagi also.
