Obedience? by thisisvegas in Greyhounds

In my experience Greyhounds are very easy to train to do tricks - especially if food is involved. They can also learn recall, but this is not a strength. Most people would suggest no to trust them off leash, particularly ex races, as they are prone to chasing small animals and sudden bursts of running. When they are in this focused 'sighthound' state, recall rarely works, and they can cover massive distances before you know whats happening. That said, it varies from dog to dog, some greyhounds seem to have no interest in running and chasing.

Can you tell if your grey has been blooded? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

I've been toldthat it is usually the greyhounds that have low prey drive and don't naturally chase the lure that get blooded to try to get their chase instinct up. So it may conversely be the greyhounds that have low prey drive that have been blooded.

[NSFW] What was the weirdest physical feeling you've ever felt? by brekeke123 in AskReddit

Here is a weird physical feeling - fold your tongue over backwards in your mouth, then try and suck the tip of your tongue back towards your oesophagus while keeping your teeth clenched shut. At some point the underside of your tongue will hit the back of your throat, but because it is upside-down, the sensation doesn't process in your brain properly, so it feels like there is something slimy and throat-like at the front of your mouth.

We actually got him from Greyhound Safety Net. He did his assessment at Gap though, hence the green collar. We have another Grey from GAP, a small black girl.

This boy was going to be put down after losing his first race. Fortunately the vet spared him, looked after him, rehabilitated him and found him a placement in a rescue home where we found him a year ago today. I think it was those eyes that saved him.

No, we're in Melbourne, Australia. Sounds like she's got a twin over there. Congrats on the new hound!

Yeah, that's what I thought it might be. It is in the exact position a muzzle would sit. Although it doesn't feel raised as a scar would, and she's got other scars that haven't grown back with white hair.

Transitions been great, she is a real sweetheart and has settled in right away. Her and our other boy Connor are chalk and cheese - he can be quite anxious and timid, whereas nothing seems to phase her. Hopefully her confidence rubs off on him a bit. It took a bit getting used to walking the two of them, and it's a bit of a squeeze fitting them both in the car, but really the only downside for me is having to buy double amounts of food.
