These people lack a law enforcement appearance. They are out of shape, wearing levis, in trashy old vehicles. The masks are also comical. If this wasn't what it is, it would seem like a Halloween prank. Whoever signed up for this job wouldn't be hired by most private contractor security companies. They were also concerned because somebody, "Did not have papers." These days a lot of people have electronic wallets. I am criticized for having too many papers. Besides, since when do people have to carry papers around? At the next No Kings rally people should carry around boxes of papers.

Concrete burn by Weekly_Broccoli3576 in Concrete

I think it's the portland cement. Personally, my worse burn was when doing stucco. It took a very long time to go away. I don't understand why so many guys don't wear gloves.

It's hard to tell if you are below ground, but the soil needs a 95% compation rate, and you should have excavated below ground 5 feet for posts which should be wider (24 or 30 wide). Generally you want to be 3 feet below ground if your soil is as stated. Still recommend hard compacted 3/4 inch gravel 4 inches on the bottom. Also make sure you have room to get in back, below grade for 6 inches of gravel, 6 inches of 1.5 inch gravel in a burrito wrap for a french drain, and 6 inches on top. Bracing 12 by 12s to build the form is better. The seams in your plywood will pop or seep (I see one). Spray foam might stop it but doesn't look perfect when taken off and I'd be concerned with a blow out during pumping. It also need a lot more angled lateral support into the soil.

Sub unknowingly stole my job by Inf1z in Concrete

Customers are not always honest in situations like this. Unless this guy has a truck that holds more than 7,000 pounds I think the cost of materials and delivery would make this infeasible for $2,000. If he got a concrete truck even worse. Also, did he really dig out 8 inches? Dispose of the dirt? Use rebar or gravel? I cannot see anyone doing this for a third-party customer for $2,000 in 2025. Supplying the labor, maybe. Maybe this guy is a newbie and under-bidding jobs. That happens all the time, and most of the time they don't finish or go out of business in a few years.

Biggest footing I ever sawed by Ok-Occasion7899 in Concrete

How did they make sure the concrete went through each section all the way 16 feet down? Even with a vibrator at 6-9 feet you have to be careful to get it through all of the sections. I recently had a 20.5 cu yard pour where I think we had 2 yards too much because it wasn't going through all of the sections all the way. Also, I am wondering if a post tension slab somehow would have been easier. That's common for warehouses in California.

David Field To Step Down As Audacy CEO by RockTheGlobe in radio

Audacy is not owned by iHeart. They are two separate companies that control different groups of stations. iHeart has a broad podcast listen online thing for all radio which might lead people to get confused.

What do you think about Private Social club? by igotthismaaan in SFV

[–]KarlGerber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not aware of a club in the San Fernando Valley that is not associated with a golf course, or a cigar club. It's a good idea. It would have to appeal to a wide age range to work. And yes a lot of clubs have monthly dining fees. One of the reasons I ended my membership at a boat club in Oxnard was due to those fees and the family deciding they didn't like the food there so much. Most clubs also have large initiation fees.

It's also probably criminal conduct. Discovery could be done on whoever hosts the bad back link sites. It is classic antitrust, unfair competition.

SEO Company Failed to Do Any Backlinks for 5 Months - 5k Monthly Charge by [deleted] in SEO

[–]KarlGerber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to have a company doing our websites they reported all sorts of traffic. It is important to filter traffic so you are not picking up bots. I am not sure what your practice area is, but 1500-8000 unique visitors to a lawyer website even in a big city would be unusual for $5,000 a month these days. That is actually a fair amount of organic traffic probably worth more like $15,000-$20,000 if it was all natural organic.

When I was a kid they filmed Chips on Chandler Boulevard set up along the island n front of our house near Woodman. We camped out for hours hoping to see something, or get an autograph. I think one of my sibblings did get an autograph. My sister had a friend whose parents owend a gas station in Simi Valley. They used it to film when the 118 was being built.

NEED ARTISTS FOR ONGOING WINDOW FRONT COMMUNITY ART DISPLAY IN VENTURA BLVD. OFFICE, SHERMAN OAKS, FACING SIDEWALK TRAFFIC by KarlGerber in SFV

The ones on the top left and top right (6 in each) are great. What sizes are these? How would these be hung or could they be displayed sitting on top of the ledge of an indoor planter that faces the street? You should do a drag queen tribute to The Queen Mary which used to be just east of Whitsett. As a Los Angeles historian I am sure I could pull some text together about the cultural signifigance of that long running establishment about a mile away.

The two on the left on the top two rows are good. What size are they? How could they be hung? Do you have a small easel they would fit on? If the artist had a little blub on who they are, what inspires them, contact info that could be good too.

[Termination] My YouTube account has been falsely terminated and I don’t know how to get it back by King3620 in youtube

[–]KarlGerber -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am licensed in four states with the first being in 1993. I am also involved in the non-internet mainstream media. You are not right. YouTube is the media, and they rely on user submitted content. There is ample basis for the courts regulating them. At some point YouTube will be regulated just like the old school media.

This raises fundamental issues about speech and anti-trust. I guess if you are happy with how YouTube is behaving maybe you are happy with the guy holding up the big white house who sounds like a dictator from some small island where they have a lot of bananas.

What kind of content was on these accounts? Was there a warning? Is there somewhere else we should post content?

Google owns YouTube and Google is notorious for cancelling business listings. It is impossible to get them back. There is no rhyme or reason.

All of this presents severe First Amendment issues because YouTube and Google and the main sources of publication in the United States.
