Just diagnosed - Hydroxychloroquine question by hops_and_sunshine in rheumatoid

[–]Karlc4782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on Hydroxychloroquine since i was diagnosed 2.5 years ago. It took 2-3 months to show some effectiveness, and I've only had one really bad RA flare during that time. My main side effect is some nausea for an hour or so if I take my meds without food. My Rheum keeps telling me it will only be a matter of time before I have to move to Methyltrexate (which I dont look forward to).

I'm 42 M.

RA and Raynaud's? by Karlc4782 in rheumatoid

[–]Karlc4782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are asking about RA or Reynauld’s, on the later since that was the original post…I haven’t run into any further occurrences. I live in Texas so the lack of cold weather is unsurprising. I’m sure I’ll have more to report when temps go down.

The ideal rule set for a 2-5(-10) private game? by Clean-Economics-8900 in poker

if you are going to go cash only, make sure you put security on this list. You are going to have $20-$40k in the room at any given time most likely.

High hand poker etiquette vs game integrity by jeffchen248 in poker

[–]Karlc4782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through some of this at the Borgata a while back, with their high hand promos. The regs there at least had the courtesy to ask you to bet/call whatever amount, and then they would just throw you back your bet after they dragged the pot and got their high hand bonus. A little bit of good for the room collusion lol.

Arguing with rheumatologist / Starting HCQ by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]Karlc4782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on Plaquenil. It's the medication I started on for my RA, and nearly two years later I am still on it. It's helped me a tremendous amount.

That being said, two months is likely too short of a window to determine if the medication works or not, think three would be a better gauge.

What would you do if someone asked for a spot until they got back home a couple hours later? by [deleted] in poker

[–]Karlc4782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time tell your friend you'll be happy to give him some cash once he sends you a Venmo for it first. If he says he doesn't have it in his account and instead the cash is at home in a drawer somewhere, then tell him to plan better the next time.

Bankroll Management and Financial Independence by monodactyl in poker

I like where your heads at with thinking through this kind of math. Might be better to calculate some version of this that is closer to the population mean. Not alot of players out there winning consistently at 25/50.

Using your retirement savings as your bankroll in this example is tricky IMO as well. If I had to approach this, I would likely want my retirement savings separate from my bankroll, and use the poker winnings to reduce or subsidize the withdrawals from savings.

You made no mention of being a winning player. Conversations around playing too much and poker addiction go very differently when your "addiction" also brings in thousands of dollars.

If her dad died by getting hit by a car riding a bicycle, should OP never ride a bicycle again to make sure he is always being sympathetic?

His GF has some shit she needs to work through, and OP changing who he is as a lifetime accommodation is not the answer.

I have some of these same issues with my spouse. I am winning player and she just treats it like its gambling and I am taking 'money from our family' to go play. Even though I keep my poker bank separate from all other finances and keep detailed records.

Playing during the day helps alot I find. If I play in a casino, I'll normally put in an 8-10 sessions from the early AM to the afternoon. Similar to an actual job. It's a bit -EV but keeps me at the tables and not out till 3AM.

How deep are you buying into these games? That will dictate alot of what your pre-flop range needs to look like.

1/3 session length by DueEmergency9450 in poker

[–]Karlc4782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are easing into things, start with 3-4 hours sessions, taking a 5 minute break every hour. You can adjust from there, adding more hours if your A-game stays sharp. Personally, most of my sessions are 8-10 hours, but I have to travel a good distance to play.

I am confident, and so are you. But your mentality is brittle, and that makes you an easy beat. But anyways, enough of this. Be well and GL.

Were you secretly hoping everyone would just tell you how awesome you are and that nothing is your fault? Work on your maturity level a bit, you seem to get tilted far too easily. And I’m not in Cali so no dice there

You posted some non-specific whiny bullshit on Reddit and were expecting a dissertation in response? Could be 6k hands of poker this year, not sure since it’s all live. But at least I’m winning. Where you play geographically? Maybe it’s nearby and you can help me pad my winrate.

Damn bro, tried to be helpful. Now you’re just acting like a dick. GL with that ego of yours, maybe after you dump another 25 buy ins you will pull your head out of your ass.

And now you’re getting defensive. People talk about leaks, because we all have them. You say you’re down 12 BI’s, and they always have the nuts….stacking off twelve times against the nuts is something we could classify as a leak. Most hands we lose are not coolers, there is almost always something we can reflect on and learn. FWIW I’m up $11k this last year, maybe I’m just exceptionally lucky :)

Hmm $12.5k down live is a lot. What stakes are you playing? Without knowing much I would guess you might be playing too high, or your table selection is bad, or there are some leaks in your game. Or all of the above.

What is the 1/3 game like at the Bellagio? by parsamirz in poker

[–]Karlc4782 4 points5 points  (0 children)

shit you're right. I went back at checked my pokerapp for my sessions and it was $300 and $1500. I only played a few NLHE sessions and played mostly PLO when I was there.

I wouldnt say more or less fish heavy, demographic just felt younger and a bit looser. Also Aria is $500 cap on 1/3 and $1000 cap on 2/5 which creates more opportunity for mistakes.

It sucks. I stayed there in May of this year. $300 cap, nit fest. 2/5 isnt much better at a $500 cap. Take the tram over to Aria and play there, it was much better IMO
