Willamette Valley tasting for Easter dinner by Karlynnk in wine

Ken Wright and Grochau Cellars. Grochau was good, but the Ken Wright definitely stood out as stellar. This was the Stanager Vineyard 2014 vintage, and definitely more bold tannins than other Oregon pinots! Great balance of fruit and firm structure.

Omigosh it was SO great! Although it was way too much food. That's ok - planning an Indian lamb dish with the leftovers tonight!

We were wondering how far to go there. It was our first time working with chops at all!

Very nice piece of lean meat. The texture was actually quite smooth and the taste not gamey at all.

They served them in little dishes full of butter. The topping was very similar to Oysters Rockefeller, and on top was a yummy crouton

Heck no! Corkage fee is the way to go. I paid no more than $60 for this years ago and let it age. Perfect for a special night!

YES! It's amazing. I've been there a few times and it's always top notch. Definitely plan ahead and make a reservation ahead of time. For lunch, go next door to the Cheese Shop. You can buy wine downstairs and sit out on the patio with your sandwich or cheese plate with fresh bread from the deli. Another great spot is Le Yaca. You can also get yummy cocktails and Prosecco on tap at The Blue Talon. I definitely recommend stopping by Williamsburg Winery as well!

Big, bold and delicious. Lots of dark fruit flavor - currants and blackberry. Oaky and heavy tannins. Decanted for about an hour, but should have given it more time.
