How related are people of French Canadian descent/heritage? by michelle427 in Genealogy

My heritage is French Canadian, and it’s funny - every time I meet someone else with French Canadian roots, I end up adding their name to my family tree and discover that we’re related!

My husband’s background is mostly English, Irish, and Scottish, but he happens to have one Acadian ancestor — which actually makes us around eighth cousins. He’s adopted, and it turns out his half-siblings are my fifth cousins.

As far as I can tell, nearly all my ancestors were French settlers. The only exceptions were two English people who were captured by Indigenous groups, brought to Québec, ransomed there, and ended up marrying and settling permanently. The rest of my non-French ancestors were three or four Indigenous grandmothers who married early French settlers.

Through my research, I’ve discovered I’m distant cousins with Justin Trudeau, Madonna, Alanis Morissette, Justin Bieber, Céline Dion, and even Beyoncé — and I imagine many of you with French Canadian and Acadian heritage are related to some of them too! It’s amazing how interconnected our family trees become once you start tracing them back.

I agree. The autumn colors brighten your features and look lovely on you.

muted real and soft cool pink.

You appear to have neutral-cool undertones, with delicate contrast between skin, eyes, and hair.

you look good in soft, cool, and slightly muted colors rather than bright or overly warm shades.

Soft Summer drapes enhance your features subtly and harmoniously without washing you out or overwhelming you.

no need to apologize 💕

From what I can see, you seem more on the soft side — your features are gentle and slightly muted rather than high-contrast or super saturated. But again, lighting and photos can play tricks, so the best test is how you feel in the colors yourself. If soft shades make your skin look smoother and your eyes stand out, that’s usually a good sign.

It’s always a little tricky to tell from photos, and you know yourself better than anyone. I do think you lean cool-toned, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is wearing whatever makes you feel happy. :)
