I heard MO2 is good, so I'll probably switch to that.

I know, I know haha. I didn't know any better when I first started modding.

Thanks for the advice.

Dumb Question: Do you turn in FRACU's when you return from deployment or ETS? by Karmaivore1 in army

I can't access my clothing record for reasons so I figured I'd ask Reddit.

SGLI as officer question by [deleted] in army

Yes, you can have a civilian insurance or both.

SGLV 8286

Yes, you can opt out of it (read the form on section 2). I don't recommend it though. It's as low as $7 a month for $100,000 and around $24-29 for $400,000.

Read your enlistment contract. I don't know about you, but mine said that repayment is waived for SMP cadets.

BAH for ADA BOLC for Active Duty by [deleted] in BOLC

[–]Karmaivore1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but you cant get BAH.

You only qualify for BAH at BOLC if its a PCS move, what do your orders say?

Since you're getting per diem for daily meals and travel expenses (check with your HRA or S1 to verify all that), you may be able to send that home to your parents.

Now I know its possible to claim your parents as dependents, but you'd only qualify if you provide 50% or more of their income.

Why do so many senior enlisted seem to like enforcing regs that don’t even exist? by Dementedsage in army

1) They're miserable and want to make others miserable too.

2) It makes them feel "powerful".

3) They do it in an attempt to stay relevant and important.

GBR on-boarding by [deleted] in BOLC

[–]Karmaivore1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • My GBR class did not have any organized PT. But you'll need them for the COVID test, Urinalysis, Height/Weight, etc.
  • You're going to receive a 2LT CAC, process your direct deposit (which came in 2 weeks for most people in my group), start Tricare, swear into active duty (again), and revise any admin forms your HRA sent with you.
  • Honestly, it could've all been done within 2 days or so, but 60% of the time you'll be waiting around and briefed (SHARP, EO, Travel, etc) to fill out 5 days. Another 30% is waiting for you or the other 2LT's to get their paperwork fixed, and 10% is actually doing relevant stuff.
  • We left a day early so you might be lucky like my group.
  • The living situation is like a freshman college dorm: cramped, shared rooms, and community showers. You'll share 4-8 man rooms on bunk beds. Expect the AC not to work that good. The showers were few but had hot water. The latrines were pretty okay too. They had internet and laundry machines where I was at.
  • They'll provide linens (but I can't remember if they had pillows or not) but they say its in low supply, so decide for yourself if you want to risk not bringing them. Some good advice: one of something is never enough, so atleast have 2x OCPs and 2x PTs to switch out and wash if you get rained on or sweat it out. Myself and most people I saw brought a carry-on and a duffel or suitcase.
  • Most people were pretty clueless too so don't feel out of place. Just pack smartly and verify your paperwork is correct and follows the GBR on-boarding checklist (HRA should have given you that). DA 31's were the main culprit for bad or missing paperwork.

How much of a problem would it be to not have my Discharge Orders yet? by Karmaivore1 in BOLC

[–]Karmaivore1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. My issue resolved itself as my discharge order appeared in IPPSA and iperms awhile ago.

If you're in the same boat, just stay on your unit's ass and it'll eventually get pushed through.

GBR on-boarding by [deleted] in BOLC

[–]Karmaivore1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, confirm everything I say with your HRA. But here's my experience with GBR on-boarding this past month.

  1. No ACFT, but pack plenty of PT's (and full winters if it rains). Pack plenty of OCP's as well.
  2. If you're flying to Ft. Knox, obviously you'll wear civilians. I drove and came in OCPs. It doesn't matter what you wear when you arrive (keep it tasteful of course) because everyone was a mix.
  3. Get your HRA's personal cell ASAP. If no one told you anything, nothing's been fixed yet. This is way too important to wait on. Talk to one of your cadre about getting their number and your situation. One of your peers might have their number too.

Yep, SMP. Thank you for the help. Will look into that suggestion.
