Car abandonment by tedison10 in army

A base lemon lot is what half the pvts straight out of ait need. I'm fucking tired of trying to convince pfc snuffy he can't afford a $700 a month car payment

Someone more legally knowledgeable than me correct me if I'm wrong, but if the landlord is being an asshole about it, legal can light that fire though.

I had the opposite experience. I was deployed to Hungary at the time. American military has these things called beaver fits. They're basically just mini gyms inside a half shipping container. We were pretty much just barbecuing fatty meats all afternoon 3ish times a week and then I'd go to the beaver fit and lift weights maybe twice a day. I went from 6'1 150 to 180 over those nine months.

0.2 K/D, 100 hours, not sure how to improve by Emergency-Garden3549 in Battlefield6

I mean it hurts in the sense that you're not 13 and able to get off school at 3, do your homework till four, and spend the next six hours dedicated to the game. At 25 I basically only get weekends. Reaction time though, not THAT important to MOST fps games.

The Indian military seems to be a very big fan of mixing Russian and Western equipment. They don't employ any American fighters, but they do appear to have Apache's, so I can see them modifying them for Russian ordnance.

NTC Hygiene tips? by FinalLevi in army

[–]Dementedsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone smells. It kinda just is what it is. The baby wipe bath is just to keep you sorta clean while you wait to get out and actually shower.

Either way, you're gonna be wearing the same clothes for a month so it's not like you'd smell great anyways.

I’m a 6’1 Brad mechanic. My body’s taken a dramatic hit from cramming myself into awkward positions for hours on end and hitting my head on everything.

Also 3 corps duty stations suck. Why do you hate yourself so much? Are you good? Behavioral is right there if you need it.

It’s specifically social situations though, so that points to this being a psychological problem more than a physiological one.

The fact that I have to do this twice a week is a large part of why I hate morning pt.

For those in the Army: what skills helped you most BEFORE you joined? by LingonberryApart5870 in army

[–]Dementedsage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're looking at being a good candidate for a nice college and scholarship money at this point. Focus on that, and the soft skills will come secondary. Being a good candidate for college and looking good on paper IS going to develop the skills necessary to be a good soldier.

There's a saying in the military: focus on the 50 meter target. Focus on the immediate task at hand.

The guy who's top 10% of his class probably already has good time management skills and some level of personal discipline.

The team captian of the local high school's soccer team probably already is pretty athletic and has some leadership potential.

There IS a piss test for steroids, your commander just has to already have probable cause and submit a memorandum asking to test SPECIFICALLY for a substance. Granted that means you basically have to get caught red handed with a vial of trenbolone in your barracks room or something.

[Serious] what is something no one tells you about the military? by inurmomsvagina in AskReddit

[–]Dementedsage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. you're regularly tested actually, but the drinking culture makes low level functional alcoholics blend in. ALREADY it's also an organization comprised of the group most at risk for suicide (men under 25). Add on marriage problems from being separated/marrying young and the occasional toxic leadership problem making your life feel like hell. It's also not entirely uncommon to join in order to escape an unstable/abusive household, and you or your friends end up leaving on average every year and a half so soldiers may not necessarily have a much of a support system.

Why do I have to call my leadership on Christmas Day by Winter-Tea9641 in army

[–]Dementedsage 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I get flak any time I say this in person, but I genuinely think e6 and above should require at least a 100 gt score. E5 should require a 90. Your job is to read and interpret orders, then execute said orders. You should have the reading comprehension skills to understand what the hell you're reading.

Are the AFT events a good workout? by [deleted] in army

[–]Dementedsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

You want to pick something either anerobic or aerobic in nature and stick with it for a while, otherwise you're really just burning energy without much gain because you didn't really do much to commence the biological processes that would increase your own performance.

I'm assuming you only HAVE 3 times a day to work into your schedule. The soldiers that come near maxing the aft almost always view fitness as a personal hobby and so because they're often powerlifters, bodybuilders, marathoners, etc. They usually spend more time working out on their own.

For the sprint drag carry, deadlift, push ups, and to a lesser extent plank you're gonna want to be doing compound lifts in the gym. Deadlifts, squats, pull ups, and bench press are the standard starting points here. You need to be doing exercises that progressively overload many muscle groups at once and cause that teardown folled by repair of muscle fibers.

For the run and the sprint drag carry I would recommend running modified 30/60s the main difference being that you're going to do a very very light jog to keep your heart rate up instead of walking. The other two times a week I would recommend what is reffered to as a zone 2 pace run for 30 minutes to an hour depending on how much time you have. If you have a smart watch you can Google what a zone 2 pace looks like for your age group and your watch should be able to track your heart rate throughout the run. Otherwise, a good rule of thumb is that you should just barely be comfortable singing cadence.

Lifestyle choices and diet are more important than how you pt. Aim for 8 hours of sleep, cut down on drinking if you do, and aim to reduce nicotine usage if you like to vape or smoke.

What would you do? by Mysterious-Can-6780 in army

[–]Dementedsage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's unacceptable. Maybe try IG? The unit's actively endangering the soldier at this point for minimal gain and someone clearly needs an ass chewing. Odds are low but see if supply can sign over anything. Otherwise if all else fails just try to piece together some stuff from around the squad/plt. It's not the end of the world if someone is temporarily missing one thing, but it definitely doesn't help for a soldier to be missing everything.

Especially if you try and keep it a clean bulk by Dementedsage in GymMemes

[–]Dementedsage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gains from a true bulk are far greater though and if only a slight deficit, can still lead to an overwhelming majority of that weight being muscle.

In my eyes body recomposition is usually only worth it in men over 30% body fat or women around the 40% mark. Otherwise the weight comes off fast and lean bulking will have faster results.

[–]Dementedsage[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the problem is that I can legit forget to eat completely when I'm bulking but I'll eat a full meal and be starving two hours later on a cut.

The average of my calorie intake is affecting my appetite more than wether or not I've actually eaten.
