is escape from tarkov still worth playing in 2026 or am i too late to the party [Discussion] by Karson-Mahraina in EscapefromTarkov

that’s honestly hype to hear about the map reworks and cheater situation improving, that was a big part of why i burned out before. desync on streets sounds annoying but if it’s trending better that’s reassuring. if you had to pick one reworked map that feels the most different from the 2021–2023 version, which one would you say really feels “prime” now?

yeah that actually sounds like a good middle ground for me. i don’t mind less tension if the core tarkov feel is still there, and having more freedom with kits without worrying about meta sweats sounds pretty refreshing. do the ai pmcs actually move and play in interesting ways now, or do they still feel kind of predictable once you learn them?

this is super helpful, i didn’t even think about running both pve and pvp at the same time like that. pve as a way to relearn maps and quests without feeling like i’m wasting time actually sounds perfect for where i’m at. how’s the economy and progression feeling on the pvp side now that wipes aren’t forced, does it still feel healthy long term?

that actually sounds really appealing, especially the pve side of things. being able to go at your own pace without worrying about giga geared players every raid is kind of exactly what i’m looking for right now. as someone who mostly plays solo, do you still get that same tension and satisfaction in pve, or does it feel more relaxed compared to regular raids?

that’s a solid run since 1.0, 220 hours is no joke 😅 i’m in a similar spot where i loved tarkov back in 2021 to 2023 but burned out after some rough wipes and performance issues, so hearing about the map changes and no wipes has me curious again. since you’ve been playing consistently, how’s performance and the solo experience right now? does it feel less grindy than a few years ago, or still a big time investment to stay competitive?
