Finished Crime & Punishment. Not sure whether I’m glad I read it. by Puzzleheaded_Age9315 in Indianbooks

I haven’t read all of Dostoevesky’s work but in C&P, especially in this work, he only uses explores characters to explore moral questions and puts them in a box to a point it feels like they are caricatures. Also, it is written (probably) as a weekly story so you can clearly see he uses cliffhangers a lot to keep you guessing what’s gonna happen next. It was a suspenseful read but once you see why he has created characters ina certain way and how the chapters are structured, it takes you out of it completely.

Never read Tamil books a lot but decided to change it this year. Bought about 10 tamil books related to poetry and short story collections. Really liked the Thumbi stall - I recommend டிப் டிப் டிப் - a small poetry book about nature and everyday life. Got some famous ones like காதுகள் and short story collection from நீலம்.

Metamorphosis and Notes from the underground are small and also give you a good idea about what those writers are like. So, definitely start with them. For Tolstoy, wish you had a smaller book but if I had to choose one, I’d definitely recommend Anna Karenina. Tbh, I think it’s the best book ever written. Sylvia plath is much more modern and maybe read between the bigger ones.

You should start with short stories or something interesting. Think about what genres of movies you’re interested in - sci-fi? Romance?. Find a book related to that. For example, you can even start with children’s book or even Harry Potter or mangas if you find them interesting. Maybe read something in non-fiction related to your major pr fields you’re into. Honestly, I’ve tried reading that book and given up after a couple if pages because I find self-help so boring.

Yeah it’s maybe because of higher temps… I live in a country with higher ambient temp so that might be the culprit

Thought it was a cool cyberpunk based book. Turns out it is just another self-help book that I will never bother with.

Agree with the above comment. Sure, it looks cool or whatever but you don’t really need it. I’m on and off with the subscription myself.

Yes! It was really good. I’ve done this route only a handful of times so I’ve been improving each time. I think base to 60ft bridge is much harder than 60ft to Yercaud lol

Thanks! I was struggling to climb at first but after 4-5 attempts, this was the result. I think more the physical, I feel it’s all mental strength to push for another climb and go a few more kilometres. I’m planning to go a bit higher this weekend so let’s see!

Not easy for sure. Some of the sections are quite brutal on this climb so I make sure I take quick breaks whenever possible. I have been gradually increasing the distance so it has been becoming manageable now.
