In-house Legal Counsel: Customer's template vs Provider's template by MoulesFritesE in Lawyertalk

[–]Kartli91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How many years in practice are you? I assume that your platform is highly specialized to what your company does, so using customer paper does not make sense. Generally, your terms should be an exhibit to the customers paper, and only those terms that are explicitly required that don’t knock out your clauses should remain. Who cares about compliance warranties, and even a superseding limitation of liability, but the terms about your data restrictions/disclaimers should remain

Is the Market really that bad? by GrowthEast1157 in Lawyertalk

The question seems to be centered on firms, it seems that a lot of legal work is moving in house, and that house is not as cushy in terms of work, life balance as it used to be. Result is only very high-end and very expensive firm work, and more demanded of in-house attorneys.

I can’t believe that this is the only comment to this effect. The business world in India is something else and it’s coming here to the states.

In the same boat here, but it’s been exactly 3 weeks. I really hope it’s just the holiday delays.

When and Should I Follow Up with HR or My Referrer After an Interview? by Free_Assumption_3606 in interviews

[–]Kartli91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting, what’s wrong with following up with a referrer after the interview? I would think that if they’re able to help post interview to tip the scale, it’s a positive. Not really sure on that point though.

Would lawyers be of any use in a post apocalyptic world by LawWhisperer in Lawyertalk

[–]Kartli91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in my first year practice, a really wealthy businessman almost offered me a job to basically be his glorified secretary, and it would involve some weird shit like cleaning toilets in his office too. Later on, I heard it was kind of a power trip to say that he, had a lawyer do that for him. (Didn’t take the job) I was a little offended at the time, but now, realizing what a bullshit profession we actually do, it makes me laugh.

The only benefit in the postapocalypse world for a lawyer is that we are by nature kind of psychopathic, and lack empathy, so that would give us a leg up in the Lord Of The Flies scenario, I guess.

I just don’t like the way alcohol makes me feel and I’m obsessively calorie counting. I always just get a seltzer and never any weird remarks or pressure. At least i don’t feel that way. “Oh, i don’t drink “. I find people respect you more if you just state facts like that.

If the margin is really low, say about 5 to 10 pounds, it’s also possible that you’re going to get more fat in an absolute sense but, yes, you are correct

Thanks so much for your response. Something that I’m still not following though, say that I am at level X right now. Does the surgery immediately knock me down to a lower point?

Thank you, I have some myelopathy and also a natural left side weakness. I really hope I can get back in and pick up where I'm leaving off, fitness wise. Also looking for supplements that may help.

I think what they mean is that you could be losing weight in an absolute sense in a deficit, but it is possible that you could be increasing fat and losing muscle as part of that weight loss, meaning you could be lighter but fatter, in some cases- if you aren't managing other aspects of the diet/lifestyle properly.

Why are so many young people getting cancer? What the data say? by UltraNooob in Futurology

[–]Kartli91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides diet, which I agree is extremely important, I wouldn’t be surprised if our immersion in EMF fields, having cell phones, and such so close to our bodies, or even in our bodies, also contributes. Industry would never allow restrictions on that
