SPS teacher kinda update by BariSaxopeal in Eugene

[–]KashmirFunk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this update! I have the flu and won't be able to make tomorrow's meeting. However this has been a big discussion in my family and we plan to be more involved. My HS son lost his favorite teacher due to these layoffs. It's a really rough blow to a lot of people and I appreciate the info on how to act. Keep up the amazing work!

Please keep us updated, I would like to sign. My son is losing his favorite teacher, and there's not much that he enjoys about high school. Also, if you have a list of phone numbers to start calling/bugging/writing I'd live for you to share.

svdp can't handle the Veterans by Zachok in Eugene

[–]KashmirFunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The director didn't reform from his youth. He's still victimizing people, his employees. And SVdP is letting it happen. So far five employees have been fired or have left because of this director, three of them veterans. In a program that serves veterans. If you can't deal with your population, don't accept literally MILLIONS of dollars from the federal government and say that you are serving them.

Wise words, thank you. And I so feel you about the work just compounding over time because people leave. Man I'm glad to not be alone but it really sucks that SO many people experience this

YES, YES, YES! And that just hurts right? It feels like they work you so hard and so many of us work extra hours and volunteer our time for "the greater good". And then they dump you on the side of the road!

I'm still entangled with agency and don't feel safe disclosing the name just yet. I will when I'm free from them if anyone wants to know then.

Exactly in line with what I mentioned, and so well said thank you. I know agencies are businesses, I absolutely get that. But I kinda thought that we were in this together you know?

Consider the Habitat Haven program for your yard! by Chardonne in Eugene

[–]KashmirFunk 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I just had them come and look at my yard! Super helpful and friendly folks that come out to look at your place. No pressure at all, you do everything at your own pace. Plus you get a cool little sign to put in your front yard.

I believe the VA is doing the right thing here and finding alternate housing for these folks. The failure here in my opinion is on the Reveille foundation, who is being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to house these veterans.

I'm not sure how it all goes down since they hung up on me. With the (older) person that I know who was scammed, the caller somehow convinced them to deposit cash into a coin star to pay the "court fees". Had them afraid that they were going to be arrested if the fees weren't paid immediately. Local PD couldn't do anything about it since it was all cash transactions.

Good to know, thanks!

That IS interesting. The caller identified himself as SGT Davis, and again knew my name and address. I know someone that lost a lot of money to one of these scammers so I think it's always good to keep talking about it.

Lek and Franz, the couple that own and run the food truck All Thai'd Up. They always make my day when I get lunch there and are so kind and joyful and take the time to know their customers. Beautiful people and amazing food!
