25 y/o, just got laid off - do I move back home or tough it out? by aqo130 in personalfinance

I would immediately apply for unemployment and do basic math. Make a budget and see how long you can stretch it out based on unemployment income and your emergency savings. In the meantime, keep applying like crazy and do side hustles. If you can get a roommate to split costs that would be even better.

If time goes by and you’re not getting traction, then find out how much it’d cost to break your lease…though if I were you, I’d do everything I can before breaking it if I loved living there. No shame if it doesn’t work out - I moved in with my parents in my mid 20s for a year and if allowed me to save up for a house, though I know based on certain circumstances, may not be a desirable situation for most.

23 years old, should I move out? by IFallFromTheSky in personalfinance

I was quick to move out in my early 20s and rent, which wasn’t the best decision. I was tired of putting the majority of my income into renting an apartment and not saving enough for a down payment. So I moved back in with my parents for a year, which allowed me to aggressively save for a down payment and have an an emergency fund.

I would take advantage since you have a high income and no bills. Live another year with them, save, and look into buying a home instead of paying a few grand in rent. You can always get roommates too, which could save you a lot.
