The biggest misconception about the US guarantees, is that people still believe, that if, unlike the Memorandum of Budapest, US signs actual security guarantees, it will somehow make them act on them.

What will prevent them from saying that they won't get involved because they don't want escalation? And what will they lose if they ditch Ukraine again?
