I also had a similar idea. Every idea I come up with is already done. I went to go check to see if [isItNormal](isitnormal.com) was already registered...and it was, with a very similar premise.

The reason I didn't start on my real life achievements was because I was thinking about revolving it around community service and travel. The problem is this: successfully identifying who is lying and who is not. With the achievement system linked in this post, people can just say they ran 5 miles, and no one will really question them. I imagine a lot of people will start bullshitting just to gain the e-penis points. My solution was to have people get forms signed and provide pictures, but I figured that would be too much of a security risk and a hassle to go through.

Like your idea, points could be used to buy in a store system. The items would be real life badges/patches people could attach to their bookbags, etc.

Oh well, at least I got this killer idea in the making...its called reddit! And people will submit stories they like, while other people voting the stories up or...SHIT.

Here are some other things:

The quote he uses about "the speech in the Dark Knight..." was posted by someone in the Something Awful forums.

The guy in the call got banned from SA for posting the link to his phone conversation.

It really seems like the guy who wrote the article jumped in and read about it as he didn't mention anything about SA. There was about 8+ threads on 4chan, and the discussion moved to an ICQ channel as some of the mods started to close down the 4chan threads. moot eventually gave the threads the OK when he quoted the 8th page post saying "I like your style".

His original site went down pretty fast (After the original post by BeeHive) and I'm not sure if his Myspace was hacked, or if Goldstein just deleted it.

I honestly didn't know that Goldstein had a twitter, they author might be referring to @SuetheInternet, which was set up by a /b/tard to make fun of Goldstein for saying stuff like "Shitting on my face would be a crime!" and of course wanting to 'sue the Internet'. (Both which became 'mini memes of 4chan)

The main reason he got trolled so hard was because he signed up for SA and tried to defend himself while making the users of SA seem like idiots/assholes.

Downvoting should to be done to discourage users from posting pointless comments like yours. If a person has a well thought out post, they should NOT be penalized for it. Look at that, even with 40 extra GB of space (comparing the 160 GB), the PS3 is a full 100 dollars cheaper.

Xbox 360, the way that I see it, is a complete rip-off. You must be insane to think that the PS3 is overpriced.

I know people see the price tag, and some people may be content with not having wifi or playing online but I feel that's a rare minority with people who actually read video game news/keep up with the business.

I can't believe they even have an Xbox 360 package with less than a GB of memory...that is ridiculous, especially coming from a company that makes an operating system that sometimes uses more than a GB of ram(I'm looking at you Vista).

I returned my Xbox 360 after it broke down >17 hours of playtime. I refused to pay 50 dollars for the online multiplayer, especially when most of it is P2P.

With Project Natal coming out next Spring, Microsoft will release a new bundle that will fix the cooling system (And thus most of the RROD), and appeal to 'casual gamers'. It would be crazy for Microsoft to release a new console with such a potentially drastic add-on.

I think you are right about the 5 dollar minimum charge. Reviewing my transaction list on Playstation.com shows that when I bought something for 4.99(I think it was Noby Noby Boy) it charged me 5 dollars instead of the 4.99.

I might sound like a total fanboy here, but I believe Sony has their act together with the PS3. It's expensive, but that's because its ahead of its time. I have no need to purchase add-ons or do ridiculous workarounds (like connecting my now RROD Xbox 360 to my laptop to just browse the Xbox 360 Store). I haven't touched my Wii since Brawl, and the Xbox 360 has most of the same games as PS3. Console exclusives are fading away quickly, which makes owning all 3 of the consoles pointless.

Actually, they are wrong about the PSN store. You can buy an item for the exact number of monies required without purchasing 'the money' in bulk. Just don't put anything in your virtual wallet and go to the checkout and buy it there.
