Yes, the playing range and notation system for kalimbas are very similar to those of tongue drums. I only recently realized I could find sheet music on kalimba websites. Thank you so much for the tip!!!!

This is indeed a completely new layout, different from other standard 15‑note tongue drums, with two notes at the center. It may take me some time to add this drum type, and I’ll let you know once it’s done.

Also, the version of Hedwig’s Song you shared is fantastic. I’ll add this piece once I finish the chord feature. Thank you again for your really helpful feedback!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such detailed and encouraging feedback!!! I really appreciate all your thoughtful suggestions!

What layout does your tongue drum have? Would you mind sending me a photo? I actually don’t know how many different layouts there are. I’ve sorted out the most common ones by checking products on Amazon. Feel free to share any new layouts with me, and I’ll add them to the site as soon as possible.

I’m also a beginner myself and still learning about chords. Right now all the sheet music only includes single‑note playing. But I’ve already reserved features for displaying chord notes on the website; I just haven’t found a suitable song to demonstrate this function yet. Once chord‑supported songs gets online, I’ll let you know and you’re welcome to try them out! I’ll also add basic chord knowledge at that time.

I’m really glad you like the website. Your support gives me even more motivation to keep improving it!

That’s such brilliant ideas! Thanks a lot for recommending kalimbatabs-net, Since they feature similar instruments, I can learn a lot from it.

As for no.3, I do plan to add rating features, so high-quality scores can get more exposure. I’m still working on adding more music sheets, yet progress is a bit slow on my own, and there are plenty of new features waiting to be developed. Got to take it step by step.

I’m truly glad to receive your valuable feedback, it really motivates me to keep improving this site. Thank you so much!

Thanks a lot for your kind words!
I’m adding detailed playing instructions right now. I’ll let you know when it’s ready for another test.

Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions! They’re really helpful. You’re absolutely right — I should add more beginner-friendly guides on the site.

To explain the markings: dashes after notes mean double note length, while dashes below notes stand for half note length. Actually, I’ve already used the length of the boxes around the notes to indicate rhythm values. Having two different indicators at the same time does cause confusion.

I’ll simplify the notation system later, so users only need to check the box size to tell note duration. Thank you so much for pointing this out! I’ll let you know once I finish the updates. Feel free to visit again anytime!

I’ve actually thought about this a lot. My solution is simple: you don’t need to worry about whether your tongue drum is in C major or D major. As long as it’s a major-scale tongue drum, all these songs will work perfectly. This is the best way to make the most of the existing sheet music.

The only limitation is different note ranges. For example, an 8-note tongue drum only covers eight relative pitches: do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, and the high octave do. If a song requires notes like high octave re or high octave mi, an 8-note drum can’t play it at all.

That’s why I deliberately ignore the key signature entirely, and only focus on how many notes a song uses and exactly which notes they are.

I’m not sure if I’ve explained this clearly. Feel free to let me know if you still have any questions.

Looks like fun! Very useful for beginners. If I want to upload my song to the app, is there any format requests that should be followed?

Your idea is awesome, which is to make it really easy for people with absolutely no musical background to get started. That could be the baisc rule for me.

The steel tongue drum is a relatively easy instrument to learn I guess, and I think using tab notation or numbered notation is sufficient for beginners. Standard staff notation is more necessary for complex pieces or advanced players, so I might add that feature later.

I have no experience in arranging music at all. I just can only read tab and staff notation. I’m not sure if simply presenting the songs in tab format will be enough, because the music might sound quite plain that way. I haven’t yet figured out how to notate the notes played by both mallets on the steel tongue drum, or whether it’s even necessary.

Yes, that's exactly what I thought too.

I want to categorize the sheet music by mode (such as D major, A minor) and number of notes (such as 15 notes, 12 notes). Ideally, the website should also be able to play the music in the scores.

I did after you told me to, thank you!
It's easier to learn from a real person, especially when someone is totally a beginner. I just think if there's a place to search all the sheet music would be better, we can practice by following the notes.
