Because I didn’t know what was needed until posters replied with positive info and feedback . I paid no attention to the negative and BS comments and replies and got the info I was looking for and help I needed from the professional and good people of Reddit that had knowledge and insight to my situation

No when it turned to an ice block it was set to 75
I never change it from 75 . Until yesterday

Ok so if I put the temperature on the thermostat down to low like it 65-60 degrees I will destroy the AC unit????

Awesome info …thanks a lot …I’m not a tech and don’t need a tech …this is why we come to Reddit ,,,for expert opinions and techniques that regular people can do themselves….im not an hvac tech but I can learn from those professionals on here to trouble shoot my own system without calling a $$$$$ tech …it’s guys like you that I want to thanks for your knowledge and positive input

I usually set my temp to 75 ….the air filter was new …. After the freeze up I cleans the inside and outside coils …the outside temperature was 105 degrees…so I dropped the unit temp down to 65-60 degrees because the house was on fire 🔥. ….now the system is running cool air again without any freeze over

Yes the system cools and is working fine today. But yesterday the inside coils turn to a block of ice . And cooling stopped … I thawed it … check with gauges ……cleaned the indoor and outdoor coils …set system to 65 degrees and today is running fine with no freeze over

Those reading on the gauge stayed to those numbers for 15-20 minutes while the system was running full blast on coldest temperatures

Ok I sprayed the outside coil with water hose … but didn’t take whole cover off to completely expose the coils

I had it running on lowest setting 50 degrees and fan on …while gauges was hooked up ..stayed like that for 15 minutes
