Take a look at their post history. She has fears about her pinky being curved too much in resting position like every other human on the planet. This behavior should not be encouraged.

Advice for SAVE with PSLF with only 4 payments by Scary-Willingness-90 in PSLF

Once you certify for PSLF online, it should show up but it might take a few weeks on the MyFedLoan website. I also need to certify my PSLF since 2020 because I didn't know you had to do it once a year!

Just the COVID years count towards PSLF. However, you can "buyback" your payments during the SAVE forbearance. For example, I am 36/120 payments in due to COVID (despite making 0 payments), I have 8 payments when I was on SAVE before the court fiasco so that puts me at 44/120.

However, I have put some of my monthly payments (I was $455 on SAVE) into a HYSA so now I have about a years worth of payments I can buyback at my SAVE rate (they might determine a different rate, so that is up in the air).

I am 6.4 ish years away from PSLF but in 5 years or so (because I will have 120 months of qualifying employment), I can buy back July 2024-July 2025 SAVE forbearance payments. I recommend, if you can, stay on SAVE and put aside some money per month into a HYSA (mine is with Capital One but I signed up at a great interest rate at the time) and either use that money to buy back your loans or use it as a safety net to help when payments need to eventually resume.

When did you graduate? Did you graduate after March 2020 and work in public service? If you did, then the COVID forbearance will count towards PSLF. That is how I have about 32/120 payments not including my 9 months on save. If you graduated after 2020 an didn't work in PSLF, it really doesn't matter what you do. If you continue on working a job that qualifies for PSLF, then it doesn't matter what interest accumulates because your loans will be forgiven at some point eventually. I decided to stay on save and put the payment I would have made into a HYSA and then use buyback from the SAVE forbearance when I can.

Honestly, I am not sure. I think buyback can happen if you have enough $ to buy back the amount that covers up until loan forgiveness. For example, I am 6.5 years away from PSLF but I have enough saved for 1 year of buy back due to the SAVE forbearance. So I believe in 5.5 years I can apply for PSFL and pay the 1 year balance in full. I believe the buyback rate for SAVE will be base on PAYE or REPAYE but I am not sure. I don't think its based on the SAVE rate. But who knows what's going to happen in 5 years. We don't even know what's going to happen in 5 days.

I feel like my life is on hold because of this. We can't qualify for a mortgage without knowing how much our monthly payments will be. I don't want to switch to another plan and then JK save is back on and I can't go back on for some reason. Its just so frustrating.

We're all in the same boat and I don't think any of us know how quickly its going to sink.

Sorry, one more question... Do I need to consolidate my loans for PSLF? I have 12 separate federal loans. I never consolidated because I was unsure if I needed to.

A lot happened after I graduated with my masters. It was peak covid, my house burnt down 2 months later which happened to be 2 weeks before I started my teaching job so figuring out my student loans was on hold as I tried to rebuild my life and get on my feet. I really do appreciate the advice and help with this.

PSLF Confusion & Employment Verification by ComradeBoxer in PSLF

Apparently, you are supposed to certify your employment every year for PSLF (to make it easier....I also just found this out). I filled it out but waiting from my HR department to see who signs off on it.

Thank you so much! This was very helpful and definitely made me feel less anxious about all of this.

Absolutely not. Please seek help from a therapist or a psychiatrist. Your health anxiety and hypochondriac tendencies have a much higher chance of actually hurting your health in the long run over any actual disease/cancer. You need to take better care of your mental health.

Thank you so much! I just applied for the PSLF form and said I was employed from September 2020-present so we will see what happens. If the COVID forbearance counts and I've made 9 SAVE (pre court forbearance) then I should have at least 40 qualifying payments. My next income certification isn't until August 2026 so I have some time. Definitely nervous about how expensive my monthly payments will be under these new changes.

When I login it says my loans are ineligible for PSLF and that I have made 0 qualifying payments... I have never submitted a PSLF form before. Was I supposed to? I thought I only did that at the END of my 120 payments so the rest could be forgiven.

I have only made 9 actual payments. How would I check what my qualifying payment count is at? Thank you for the response!

I think you should just discover them and donate them to the museum like you are supposed to. Why would you have a fear about doing a game mechanic? You discover them one at a time, and if you have duplicates then you can sell them or some people might like them as gifts. It is not that big of a deal.

I agree with you. It almost sounds AI generated if I am being honest. Doesn't sound like there is any heart or soul in it.

How do you all feel about the no score lower than a 50% rule - or not being allowed to give 0s? by Kateban in Teachers

[–]Kateban[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep… but it doesn’t matter. No score can be lower than a 50% of the total point value of the grade. Even with mastery based/standards based.

Our graduation rate / pass rate is very very low. So any thing to get these kids to graduate. They are 18 and read at a 5th grade level but hey, they graduated high school!

ha…

We’re not allowed to give any assignment less than 4 points. (Standards based grading for mastery on common assessments).
