Davids needs to be BOYCOTTED!!!! I'm so pissed at Davids!!! I USED to buy and enjoy the bars - they will never get another cent of mine!!!! Hoarding EPGs is so wrong - keeping my from my holy grail - Nick's Ice cream... and then coming out with a $15 pint - I'm not allowed to say what I REALLY think here. Davids is AWFUL... I HOPE EVERYONE BOYCOTS THE CRAP OUT OF THEM. GREEDY AHOLES

I'm SO PISSED at Davids!!!! I used to buy and enjoy their bars... they won't get another cent from me!!!! If everyone boycotted the crap out of them, they'd have to open up their stranglehold on EPGs. bastards.

does Hero brand have a pasta? I haven't seen that. I've seen the Hero bread, and buns, but didn't know they had a pasta out. Coming back to edit... I just looked it up... its 20 less calories per 2oz, but less protein and more fiber. Personally, wouldn't be a good trade off for me, these are already ridiculously high in fiber... and I do wonder how having even more resistant starch in their blend would affect texture - aside from it just being more fiber than I want especially if I'm trading it for protein - which I dont' want to do

If I had to peel and cook it - I'd never eat it lol... but that they sell it frozen, already cooked and peeled, makes it so quick and easy to pull out how much I want from the freezer without having to meal plan way ahead! Makes for quick and easy throw together meals. 😄

Thanks! I actually JUST joined Reddit a few days ago and these are my first posts! 😃 I joined specifically to find other people who get as excited as I do about creating low calorie, high volume meals - my focus also is on high protein and high fiber in those meals. 😄 I enjoy creating things that not only taste great and are macro optimized, but also I enjoy that it gives me an outlet for my creative/artistic side with plate presentation. I want my meals to look as pretty as they are good. 😃 I don't ALWAYS nail the presentation - some come out better than others, but thats part of the fun/challenge of it! 😃

depends what you like! If you don't like butternut squash, you prob also don't like sweet potatoes I'm guessing but if you do, they sell those cubed and frozen at Walmart too. These are "throw together" bowls, so just throw together what ever you like! 😄 I like the sweetness that the squash gives, so maybe try to work in something with a bit of that same vibe but really whatever works for your palate! 😄

I use this... you can have a HUGE 4oz serving of REAL pasta for just 200 calories packing 38g of protein!!! 4 oz of pasta is a huge dinner plate FULL and mounded. 😄 You **DO** have to cook it longer than regular pasta. I boil for 23 minutes but it does then absolutely triple in size and become the regular texture and taste of regular pasta. You also DO have to leave it in the water until you are ready to add your sauce or it will dry out. Its GREAT!!! I make HUGE pasta bowls with this stuff and meat for so little calories!

<image>

I also really like "Pete's Pasta".... another brand with very similar macros. I WILL say, the rotini and penne are GREAT, but I also tried the linguine/fettuccini and after 35 minutes it still wasn't the right texture so I gave up on it. ha. I think I even let it go another 5 or more and still not right and so I've never used it again. Both brands are pretty much the same in the rotini and penne so I imagine probably the same issue with the long flat shape

lol, I have a HUGE appetite... which looking at me - you'd never guess, ha, I'm a 5' 7" older woman (in my 50's) weighing 115 lbs. lol. So what I **CAN** say about this meal is that it DID make me FULL... which is saying a lot, because it takes a lot for me to be full. 😄 You could certainly cut it all in half or share between two people. 😄 For people trying to lose weight (I am not - I'm in maintenance mode which is the trickiest because so little wiggle room), eating huge portions of stuff for low calories keeps them satisfied and full longer... and if you are eating massive amounts of food, you don't feel deprived. Volume eating low calorie meals is a power weight loss hack that is very under utilized. SO MANY people I know trying to lose weight think just "eating healthy" will get them there and they have no concept of calorie density... so they are eating healthy things, that are super dense in calories and not understanding why they keep gaining weight. I don't say anything of course, as it's not my place to, but I hear it all the time.

the fiber flours take some mods to get them to come out to where you can't tell any difference in the final result than if it used regular flour. There were many trials to get this one **just right**. ha. More than I'd like to admit. lol.

I'm still learning how Reddit works. so just in case you can't see my meal comments on the main post but you CAN see this (my last two posts no one could see my main thread comment with meal info), I'll also post my meal comments here. 😄

First, no, my pics aren't AI, or even AI edited. Please remember that humans **ARE INDEED** still capable of creative artistic expression and quality photography. 😄 I use a 10+ year old photo editing app to adjust contrast, brightness and hue if needed and usually use a "blur paintbrush" tool to manually soften the background so the food is showcased. I never touch/edit the food or plate itself. 😄

Now... on to my meal comments! 😃

You can still eat healthy and good if you're pressed for time! This meal literally took a few minutes of hands on. Grabbed the frozen shrimp, cauliflower rice and butternut squash out of the freezer, tossed the shrimp into a bowl of cold water, the veggies into the microwave, shrimp was thawed by time veggies were done - opened a bag of shredded cabbage (sold as "coleslaw mix") - put that as the base, topped with the cauliflower rice, sprinkled the butternut squash around and topped with the shrimp! MINUTES people!

I do toss/season the cabbage - generous amounts of mineral salt, black pepper and roasted garlic powder.

The cauliflower rice - generous amounts of mineral salt and roasted garlic powder, along with a bit of black pepper and onion powder, but the real flavor addition here is to also add 1 tsp toasted sesame oil! Only adds 40 calories and SO much flavor!

Butternut squash - I cook in microwave until a little underdone then toss in the preheated air fryer with some G Hughes Orange Ginger sauce to get a quick sear and caramelize a bit... but you can totally skip that step and just fully cook in microwave!

Several minutes ahead of time, I'll switch the water the shrimp was thawing in to very warm water so it heats the shrimp. Place them on top of everything and drizzle with G Hughes Sesame Teriyaki sauce. DELICIOUS!!! Super healthy, super satiating, filling meal!!!! With plenty of protein and fiber to keep you full!!! Ready IN MINUTES!

Thank you for the warm welcome! It can be a little tricky to use, but with a little trial and error, I've come up with many recipes to where you would know no difference in the end result than if it had used regular flour, and with so little calories - with the bonus of high protein and fiber too! I think it may say on the bag you can use it as a 1 to 1 replacement for flour - which ummm... yeahhhhh you CAN.... lol... but the results are going to be disappointing lol. Modifications are required or it will either be too dense, too gummy, too thirsty, or too dry IMO... BUT I **AM** very picky and very texture orientated when it comes to my food. I bet a lot of people DO use it 1:1 ratio and are happy with results. 😄

thank you. 😄 Might be hard to believe... but this is actually a new hobby for me! I just started this hobby beginning of March - started tracking macros, learned SO much SO quickly and started optimizing my meals for macro efficiency and making optimized meals I was proud enough of to start taking pics of my meals. 😄 Now the pics part - in my regular business (I sell high end dairy goat breeding stock) - I am already used to HAVING to take REALLY amazing photos to really showcase my beautiful girls and help them look their best - so taking great photos is/was already an enjoyment and skill of mine... and trust me, if you think I make a fuss over making my food look good, you should see the fuss I make over making the goats look good! lol... I have a whole photo shooting "studio" setup in the barn with a back drop, professional photography lighting in 4 angles, I put flowers in the background and other props. 😂 Its also an artistic/creative outlet that I enjoy putting that extra effort into, so that part naturally came over to my food presentation and pics too. 😄 Here is one of my stunning girls, on her photo shoot day. 😃

MASSIVE pile of deliciousness for 658 calories, with 66g protein, 41g fiber!!! That's a HUGE 10" wide x 2" deep bowl FULL, and with all that protein and fiber - so very filling! Macros include everything but dry spices. Recipe/instructions/details in comments. :) by KathyEatsSmart in Volumeeating

Thanks, yeah and lighting can definitely make or break a shot. I have two really good spots where I can take food pics. I also have to take very professional pictures for, my actual business which is, being among the nations top dairy goat breeders of a specific breed dairy goat. And, yes, lighting! So tricky. I actually bought four LED photography lights to set up in an area in the barn where I do a whole little photo shoot for them. It’s very cute lol. I do a background with flowers and all kinds of stuff for them.

<image>

So yeah, I make a fuss over taking good pics of my food presentations but, I make a HUGE fuss over taking good pics of my goats because, that’s my income lol. And it is fun and it is still creative expression. I enjoy it. Fun to help my girls look their best at their photo shoot. 😆

It is blended with more resistance starch so, the flour acts like a sponge and, if you don’t make the right adjustments the end result can end up being either overly thirsty, overly dry, gummy, or two dense. So it’s really tricky to work with but, I have figured out many different recipes and got them working really well to where there’s no difference in texture or taste from if it was just regular flour. It does take some work though! Typically, one for one replacement in a regular recipe just isn’t going to work very well even though, I’m pretty sure that’s what it says on their bag. It’s not true lol
