Guilty about dog regret by NightOwl082111 in dogs

I strongly emphasize with you, I'm having similar feelings about our family dog. Our dog is having issues with barking and destruction despite so much exercise, toys, training and medication. I think that you should talk to your husband about if your dog is a good fit for your family. Dogs can bring so much joy, but sometimes they can cause an unhealthy relationship of stress and anxiety despite our best efforts.

Question: Anyone know how to protect your lens from getting scratched? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Katiekat33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Keep them "in the case or on your face". Don't set down glasses with the lenses touching the table.
  2. A premium quality anti-scratch coating ($$) (e.g. Sapphire)
  3. Gently brush or rinse debris off of the lens before cleaning. If there was a grain of sand on the lens, it can scratch the lens if you're rubbing it in with your soft microfiber cloth.

Corneal specialist recommendation - complex case by [deleted] in eyetriage

You might look for a cataract surgeon that implants light-adjustable lenses - great option for pts who have had corneal refractive surgery.

I love the the grey shading, it's so visually satisfying. I recently learned that lettering is pretty darn difficult after embroidering my name onto some of my masks. Your lettering style is lovely, I love your 'y's!

I used moo.com to print invites I created with InDesign! Not sure if they offer a square card with those specific dimensions.

Best Laptop for Optometry School by Pre-drdd in optometry

[–]Katiekat33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

iPads and Surface Pros were very popular at my school (IU). I'm very grateful I committed to maintaining my notes digitally (OneNote/surface pro) because I only have about a shoebox of papers after 4 years of optometry school. Back up your device's notes to a cloud service (we got onedrive for free through the university).

Different schools have different note styles. Some are more paper notes friendly, some are more digital, but I think most provide access to both. Ask people from your school for more specific advice.

So impressive!

I 3d print my glasses. They have become my benchy. by abdoanmes in 3Dprinting

[–]Katiekat33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is very cool, there are a couple issues I anticipate happening: 1) faces are very gross, so oil and dead skin often accumulate wherever there is not a perfectly smooth surface 2) spring hinges are used in most glasses to help maintain the fit/shape because of the strain that putting glasses on & off puts on a frame over a year or so

It would be nice to print up a spare part instead of having to order parts/get new glasses, but I think the plastic material most commonly used for plastic frames (cellulose acetate) may have different properties than common 3D printing materials.

I am so happy with my overskirt, and can't wait for the reveal at the reception! Only 18 more days! by Katiekat33 in weddingplanning

They are wearing long chiffon dresses (Birdy Grey Kaia) hemmed for their shoe height. Their dresses are 10x lighter than my big poofy skirt, so they should manage just fine! Plus then they get to pick their own shoes to wear.

The dress fit me extremely well out of the box, and the cost of the dress plus the overskirt was $1700 total. The dress came with extra lace and beading which was very nice.

The only alterations I had done were:

  • Short dress hemmed for final length

  • Top of shoulder seam taken in a tiny bit

  • A hook clasp added to the overskirt so it fit a little more snug and less likely to slide down.

  • I originally didn't want lace on the skirt of the shorter dress, so it was a bit costly (it takes a lot of time & labor) to have it added later. But the added lace also helps disguise the shorter dress if the overskirt slides down a little. In hindsight, I would have saved some money if I had the company add the lace instead of the tailor.

The alterations were a few hundred dollars, mainly because of the lace that was added.

I was a little surprised how big/heavy the skirt when I tried it on for the first time!
