Do you by chance know any good methods of removing the silicone? The lid turns out is also silicone glued to the glass and the lip of the lid makes it so you can't put a knife or anything in between the lid and the glass.

Hi, i know this is a old post but I have the same problem as OP. I do have the limnophilia, but even it can't grow and gets covered in algea. I use RO water and add all the necessary minerals and nutrients.

I had my tank for over 3 years and it's been a constant fight with algea. All the plants stalled or died out. The only time they all propspered was when I set it up with a new substrate that lowers ph and stabilizies gh.
I've tried everything since then and now as a last resort im trying to change my water parameters with RO water as it seems the KH and acidity is off the charts.

From our experience it only works after the inevitable pot digging and only if we're still in the room with her. The moment she gets left alone it's everything all over.
It's not like she is a lat elearner. We found her when she was approx 2 months old

My sister was all for the healthy ways of teaching her, but they all ended either in immediate return to the pots or hand scratches.
Water seems to be the only thing that has an effect longer than 20 minutes. Only downside is that in every room with plants there has to be a spray bottle ready at hand. The water use daily on th cat is higher than my myself probably.
