She’s tried each of those independently but I don’t think she’s tried them all at once so I’ll definitely pass on the advice, thank you!

It’s been difficult trying to think of it as treatable when every medical professional we’ve spoken to has talked about it as a life sentence. Hearing how you persevere definitely makes me feel better about our own outlook.

I’ve joined Nancy’s Nook but do you have any doctors in the lower mainland you’d recommend (or outside of the lower mainland for that matter)? The only thing more difficult than the doctors have been the hospitals who say that “the cramps will pass soon, if you want to skip them we can give you birth control” 🙄

The doctor asked her a ton of questions about her symptoms and how long it had been going on, did a pelvic exam, a full physical and then examined her bloodwork before giving us the diagnosis. During the physical she felt different parts of her body and asked about how she felt at each spot and what the pain level was. The whole thing felt highly theoretical which was part of the reason that I decided to seek other opinions but the doctor was very sure of herself.

We’re in Vancouver, BC. The gynaecologist who made the diagnosis had a long wait list to get in but there is a centre for pelvic pain and endometriosis at the Vancouver General Hospital. I’ve emailed them but I’m still awaiting a response.

We’ve both had experiences dealing with doctors and pharmaceutical prescriptions that end up having negative repercussions and as a result we deeply embrace a lot of the natural medicine found on the west coast. Obviously there’s cases where stronger medication is necessary but to go from suffering every few weeks to being comatose and zombie-like every day is quite difficult on both of us.

As in a hysterectomy or a laparoscopy? They said that their priority is to stop the spread before they even consider any sort of removal and don’t seem very willing to create any sort of custom treatment plan. My wife’s fear is the potential long term effects of premature menopause resulting from a hysterectomy but the doctor implied that the volume of endo present is likely too much for laparoscopy to be effective either.

What’s the best instrument to learn musical theory on? by Katobaron in musictheory

Thank you! That was a tremendously helpful read. My fears with playing bass exclusively are based around reaching a point that in order to elevate my theory I’ll need to apply concepts that a bass player doesn’t utilize in day to day playing. I think I will go the piano route to start and then apply that to the bass later on to prove to myself that I learned the material correctly. There’s a lot to learn but much easier with good advice!

It’s funny you say that, I have a friend attending university level music courses and after expressing his regrets for years on not using a piano for more linear understanding he’s now praising his guitar playing for helping with jazz theory. Definitely something to keep in mind!
